My friend is 12 weeks prenant and heard there are fun ways to fnd out the sex of your baby. Anyone know the one about the 'v- shaped blood vessel' in your eye?

It doesn't have to be a scientifically supported way right? can be old wives tale? 1. Tales
In the book Middlesex the grandmother puts a spoon on a string and holds it over the stomach. If it swings vertically, it's a boy (I think), if it goes side to side, it's a girl.
They did this with the mother's wedding ring in Little House on the Prarie
My grandmother always says a woman's face really changes if it's going to be a boy. Also, if you already have a child, look at his or her hairline at the neck. If it's pointed, next child will be a boy, if it's rounded, it will be a girl.
I don't necessarily believe any of these things...but you asked!

Well, I'm only 6 weeks or so, but I couldn't resist taking the old wives tale test. And skipping the heartbeat and kicking questions it says right now I have a 54% chance it's a boy -

The Scissor and the Knife Test:
This test has never failed me (when I did to others)
Pregnant lady leaves the room. Set up two identical chairs side by side. Get 2 identical pillows and place one on top of each chair seat.
Slip a pair of scissors under one pillow, slip a knife under the other. Have pregnant lady come back in the room and sit on a chair. (try not to influence her choice!)
If she sits on the chair with the knife, then it's a boy
If she sits on the chair with the scissors, then it's a girl

I was looking in a baby name book for fun yesterday, and there was something about a Chinese Lunar calendar. It was a graph with the woman's lunar age at the month of conception (your age plus 9 months) and then it told you if you were going to have a boy or girl, based on the month you conceived. I should try to see if there is something online.

I looked at the chinese lunar calendar and it said I was having a boy...it was right, the sonogram said all boy!
My friends did the swinging cross over your open palm thingy...depending which way the cross swings, it tells you boy or girl...that came out boy too.
A psychic told me that I was having a boy too.

Well, I had DH do the scissors and knife test to me and I sat on the knife so -- boy.
We'll find out just how accurate that test it tommorrow when I have my big U/S to find out the sex!!
ETA: The test was right! It's a BOY!

I heard of one where you count R's.
Write down your First and Last name then your DH's first and last name. Then write down the month your due and then write each month going back to month 1 (conception). Add up the R's if it's even is a girl if it's odd it's a boy.
So for example: Susan Smith John Smith April March February January December November October September August
= 9 R's = Boy.

That scissor vs. knife thing does sound alittle weird. I have heard about the drano one too. Were you pee in a cup of drano...blah blah.

I was just going to say that that drano thing sounds dangerous. At the very least mixing drano w/ammonia (found in urine) will produce smoke and noxious fumes!!!

Based on that too, it's a girl as well. Hmm...now I'm really dying to find out what I'm having.
My Aunt through marriage is Chinese. Her mother says that if you can't tell you are pregnant when looking at the woman from behind, then she is having a boy. If you can, then it's a girl. So far it has always been accurate in my family.

I think its just fun trying them all.
How about the one in your eye. You have to pull your lower eye lid down and look for a blood vessel in the shape of a V. I cant rememeber what sex the baby is if its in the right or left. Any one know?
