Maybe look into where Im going. Its Tahiti like, much cheaper, and warm year round. We are going to Brazil. We are staying about an hour from Recife at a resor called Nannai Muro Alto Resort. Google it. FM me if you are interested and Ill connect you with our travel agent. Its a nice quiet luxury resort with overpool bungalows. And there is a resort town near by called Porto de Galinhas. There are lots of activities available.

Im going in 9 days- can you tell Im beyond excited?!

what about Riviera Maya in Mexico? It's about 20 or 30 minutes south of Cancun, so you get the nice beaches and resorts in an area thats not so crowded. And it's close to lots of things to do, like touring Mayan Ruins, snorkeling or scuba diving, swimming with dolphins, taking a ferry to Cozumel, etc.

FYI... You can call hotels in some of these places and ask them what the weather is like in August.... they'll tell you, they're there, they should know! That's what we did... we're going to St. Thomas right at the end of hurrican season so when I was making rezzies, I asked them how the weather was... I was surprised when they told me how nice it is.. .just really humid that time of year.

I agree, Hawaii has it all... adventure, beautiful beaches and you can relax on the days you don't want to be adventurous.

fh is so difficult!!!! he doesnt really want to go there for the pure fact that he has 2 really good friends going there on their honeymoons before us

I was the same way ! I had my heart set on Tahiti , and was not too exited on Hawaii since most people I know went there on their honeymoon.

My FH wanted Hawaii from the beginning.

When we finally sat down with a Travel Agent ( who has been to both) and explained the differences between the Islands AND the cost considerations, we ended up with Hawaii . There is a considerable difference between Tahiti and Hawaii ( not that Hawaii is not expensive) - it was either Tahiti on a budget or Hawaii 5 star . Not to mention there is NO nightlife in Tahiti , not much to do ( which I am fine with , FH is NOT )

My FH said to me ' who cares what other people have done , if this is the ONLY reason you can come up with to not go, doesn't that sound stupid?'

Maybe you should go to a Travel agent just to get additional info, that might sway FH

Oahu/ 2nights/ Pearl Harbor, Fun Bars and Relax
Kauai/ 4 nights/ Snorkel on Napali Coast, Helicopter tour
Maui/ 6 nights/ Deep Sea Fishing booked, zip-lines, cliff diving, volcano sunrise and bike ride down the volcano. Relax

Everybody goes because there is so much to do! Tell FH not to worry about friends doing it first, they will just be able to come home and give you great advise about the trip. My best friend just went for hers too! This was the short version of everything I wrote last time. If you want more info FM me and I'll give you my # so I don't have to type again! LOL

What about Australia? They have beaches there and it's different. Not sure how much it is, but my boss when there on his and loved it.

August in Australia is winter. It only gets to be about 50, but not the beach season

I was in Australia two summers ago..I went from Sydney to Carnes. Up the gold coast. It was like 55 in sydney but got warmer when you went up to the Rain forest. It was by far the best vaca I have ever had. I wore sandals...for most of the trip. It was 80 and the futher we went...I was there for JUly into Aug...

Another suggestion is Alaska...That is where we are going i was not excited but after lookin at pics I am in love with it and cannot wait

You can also take a cruise from Florida, which is closer to NY, there are more flights to various cities of FL, and airfare is cheaper than going to Los Angeles.

That is what I am doing! I love it for the fact that if I felt adventurous I can go to the ruins, & do adventurous water sports, or if I wanted to completely veg out I could as well.
