Wedding cost - Long Island Weddings
Our budget is $15k and we seem to be pretty much on target, but after tipping I'm sure we'll be closer to $20k.

Wedding cost - Long Island Weddings
We are currently at 55k. UGH. It just keeps climbing but I think we factored in everything including stamps, honeymoon, rehearsal dinner etc so that total should be pretty accurate.
2016-er crashing! You ladies numbers are freaking me out right now! Lol we had originally budgeted 30K, which is all on us. But recently FH parents have offered to put $50 a week into an account for us from now until the wedding which will be around 7K. I was hoping that would take away from the burden of our budget but now I'm thinking it'll just add to the budget lol. I guess we shall see when we start looking at venues which is obviously the most expensive part! We're trying hard to keep it at 150 people.
Don't stress! Plus you have an amazing advantage of having a long engagement to save up. Try to book as many vendors as you can so you lock in 2014 prices! Then you can use 2015 and some of 2016 just to save for the next deposits to your vendors. You'll be fine... Just like we'll all be fine! These numbers make me ill but I keep reminding myself, when done right- weddings are only done once!!

Don't freak out! 30K was me and FH rough budget when we starting the planning process last summer. And, you know, we're pretty much on budget - maybe 2-3K off. Our final head count is about 110ppl. Can you have 'everything,' no. But, you just choose the areas you want to splurge on ahead of time and budget a little more in other areas. For example, FH and I wanted a really great photojournalistic photographer that has great reviews, but we don't have the $5K photo budget that a lot of people end up spending. So, we booked my fav photographer for 10 hours - but, skipped out on the video and the immediate wedding albums. He can always make an album for us when we replenish our savings - like maybe for our 1 year wedding anny. I wanted the extra raw bar at our cocktail hour so we splurged, but we saved on limo and guest shuttles by booking our reception at the Fox Hollow (which owns their own hotel right next door). It totally helps to have a smaller guest list. You can totally do it for ~30K with your guest count. Just FYI....don't forget to include gratuities in your budget - it will likely be ~$1500-2000 when all is said and done (and most of the reason why we we missed our 30K goal by a little).

Our budget was about $30 grand and we are really only going over for the honeymoon and gratuity...so as far as specifically wedding we stayed around that budget. It was hard to not know exactly where we should stand, we wanted to be realistic but budget friendly. So we basically ruled out great vendors that cost a fortune and only ever considered the ones we thought were great but had a reasonable budget. Its possible, just do a lot of research.

This makes me feel so much better knowing that people out there have actually done it on LI at a great venue for under 35K!! Thanks so much!

Don't stress....I originally thought 30k would be our number too but things add up lol but there are def ways to keep the price down. We r a Friday night wedding and we didn't really cut back at all on our guest list (we are inviting 230). Sundays or a Saturday day wedding are significantly less per plate, the limos, photographer, videographer etc also offered less expensive options then when I chose. If u are thinking 30k you can still have a beautiful wedding at that price. You should def book things soon so you can lock in 2014 prices you will save a lot in the long run and you have lots of time to save and pay things off.

I don't even want to know anymore. Last I checked 55k. I'm just gonna go with it we haven't been struggling to pay for it yet and my parents are paying like 75% so that definitely helps!

I'm embarrassed to say this, but I don't even know what the total ended up being for mine. I'm probably better off, cause it's not like I'm getting it back! I never tracked the 'little' stuff- hair/makeup, save the dates, stamps, jewelry, favors, decor, tuxes, tips. Our honeymoon, once we took into account food, spending money, etc I think came out to about 16k.
It makes me sick, but I actually wonder how people do it for less. We looked at more expensive vendors than what we chose. Our venue was on the pricier side I guess, but not the most expensive we saw.
Ours is looking like its coming in around 25k. Maybe a little less. My mom is helping with a little bit, but the rest is all us (which I prefer honestly, because then when people are like 'ohh... you should do THIS' I can be like 'oh. are you paying? no' ... or when his dad makes comments about how weddings are a waste of money etc. I get to say 'well, its our money and this is how we're choosing to spend it') So we're really trying to stay on budget. I recently cut the guest list because FH was freaking out about money and space in the venue so if all 170 on my GL show up we're looking at total of probably 25k.

It IS totally possible to stay on a budget. Before we booked anyone or looked anywhere we knew exactly what we could spend for each category. In some we did go over, but that meant we had to make cuts else where. I know it seems stressful but We HAD to stay on budget or there was no way we could pay for it (doing it ourselves and debt free) We are spending 15k, but if you add my dress and flowers (which my mom paid for) its more like 18k. Our HM is another 5k. So total out of our pocket is 20k, total wedding cost closer to 23k. We had to make tough decisions and some compromises but I am not disappointed in any of the decisions we've made. It took a lot of research to find affordable quality vendors, but I'm very happy that it's all working out!

Re: Wedding cost
So far - my knot calc showed 52K for 200 people and that's not including honeymoon or rehearsal dinner and we are not getting expensive vendors at all: with flowers we stayed at 2K by doing 1/2 low and 1/2 candle (which are the same price). The biggest expenses are band (my FH wants it) and photo & video -- you gotta have good one! I just hope we wouldn't go over 55K tops

We paid for pretty much everything ourselves. Im not ashamed to say I couponed and used every discount possible. Thankfully DH and I are volly FF so a lot of our vendors gave us discounts for that...
