Wedding date?

How did you and FH pick your wedding date?

Mine is a long story..

At first I always wanted a Christmas wedding but then I would have to do the Christmas theme cause it’s my fave holiday and I really want a Cinderella wedding so I thought fall would be great. Nov is my brother so that was a no cause his wife is weird like that. Oct would not work as I work for an accountant and we have tax extensions they would kill me. Sept back to school and too many oot to take off so FH actually came up with our date he said we should just do it on our anniversary which is 8/19 but it’s a thurs so we picked 8/20.

Can’t wait to hear everyone else’s

Re: Wedding date?

we originally wanted April 10, 2010 because it will be our 7 year dating anniversary. However, after falling in love with the woodlands we decided to do a Friday night bc of timing issues and to save some money. So since April 9th had no significance we decided to push it to April 30th so it was still April but farther in the month with better chance of warmer weather.

i originally wanted our 9 year dating anniversary which is 1/17/10... but that is a Sunday & we wanted to get married on a Saturday... so we then decided we would do the 17th, on a saturday & the only two months in 2010 were April & July... i figured July would be hott and i love spring colors so we went with April

Just picked a date in July that worked for us, it happens to be FSIL wedding anniversary so out of the 3 dates available, we picked that one.

I did some research and found out that October is the driest month of the year in New York, and rain on my wedding day is my biggest fear. I knew I wanted early October or late September. I REALLY wanted 10-10-10 but had no luck

We had a difficult time picking a date. I personally wanted Saturday, March 20, 2010 (our 10 year anniversary) but FH wanted a new date to celebrate. We considered dates in May & September & then we finally decided on Friday, April 23 because of the Cherry Blossoms in the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. (it’s a yearly tradition that FH & I go to so we figured it would be extra special.)

I had always wanted a spring wedding because I love that time of year - and FH really wanted May for some reason. We decided on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend because it was a bit cheaper - and we do have a lot of OOT guests so we figured it would be the easiest for them to have it on that Sunday for traveling.

Our wedding date is our 4 year dating anniversary. We were going to do it on October 1 because it was a Friday but we really wanted to keep our dating anniversary, even though it was a Thursday. We decided to inconvenience everyone and do it on our anniversary, that Thursday! Saved alooooooooooooooooot of money too

Re: Wedding date?

Well originally, we (read I) wanted to get married in 2009. But FH didn't propose until the end of December. We both knew we wanted prime season - Anywhere from June to early October. FH and I HATE the cold, so winter months just wouldn't do it for us.

Well since we didn't start looking at RH's until mid January, mostly everything was booked up. The closest Saturday nights available for us were Halloween! And we certainly didn't want that.

So we pushed it back to 2010 and basically had free pick of RH's. We couldn't do May because FH's birthday and Mother's day are in May and it just would've been too much for us. So we agreed on the first weekend in June....warm enough, not too warm, most likely not too cold

I went to work (DJ) and said when are we free in the fall of 2010. They said the weekend of the 17-19th of Sept.

That's pretty much it lol.

Re: Wedding date?

We wanted something during late spring, summer, or early fall. We didn't really want to do it in cold weather.
After researching RHs, I realized one thing...FH practices Ramadan each year, where he fasts for a month. So that cut out roughly one month...and THEN I realized that since Ramadan falls during different dates each year, anything during the fall would be out of the question, as celebrating our anniversary during Ramadan wouldn't be any fun since he um...doesn't EAT all day. He agreed and thanked me for researching this, since he never thought of that. Men!
So that meant spring/early summer. We weren't set on a particular date, but I do have a preference for even numbers.
When we went to Swan Club to book, we had no date in mind. We had their quote listings from our first visit. We spoke with our families about possibly booking on Father's Day if there was a significant discount. The lady at the Swan Club said that the date was open AND there was a sweet discount. So 6/20/10 it was! Even numbers, venue we wanted, I get to be a June bride (!!!), VERY nice discount. All works our swell!
My dad keeps joking that he's getting a great gift next Father's Day...a son! (It's only my sister and I, no boys in our family) Cute, huh?

Re: Wedding date?

I've always wanted a fall wedding, either end of Sept or early October. 10/2/10 was the only Saturday night left between Sept - October at our place, so that's how we got the date.

It will also be 5 days after FH and I celebrate the 5 year anniversary of our 1st date.

Re: Wedding date?

I always wanted to get married on our anniversary or close to it, but I knew a June wedding would be expensive so we decided on late April/early May. Before we chose our date I would use 4/24/10 as a fake date for bridal expos, etc. But when we went to the hall they had the date available, so we made it official and chose that date.
