Ladies me and my FH cannot choose between Friday or Sunday. I think my ONLY thing against Friday is that then my wedding is over by Saturday morning. It is no longer my wedding 'weekend' it is my wedding 'night'. is that dumb thinking? We have so much family flying in and its like my wedding will be over saturday and now I have to amuse other people.
NOW, as for the venue we are considering, we def want to enjoy the outside at night because it is absoultely amazing to us. So our Sunday 4-9 wedding is not an option.
THUS! Can you please help me choose...

I think that if you have it on Sunday people will be leaving early because of work the next day.

Yeah. I guess my concern is that the FH family (a lot of them) have never been to NY. So I dont wanna get married then play 'tour guide' for the remainder of my weekend. But Friday sounds better for a lot of reasons.
I don't think they will expect you to be the tour guide. Hopefully they will understand it's a busy weekend for you guys and look for another family member to show them the sights.

Friday all the way! People can leave as late as they want without the thought of work looming the next day. Plus, you can do a nice day after brunch.

I'm actually doing a sun pm over a friday; for us a lot of ppl are commuting in and fri pm will be annoying for them to rush in from work; our close friends and family wont mind that they have wrk in the morning for the sun evening though.
You should do what suits your guests best, though - we asked around and our guests told us that it would be tough to get out of work on time to attend both the ceremony and reception so they wld rather sacrifice a little sleep for sunday with wrk the next am. lol :)
HTH!

I figure that regardless of when my wedding is, the people who matter will be there, but I really want everybody to enjoy the day/night. By 8pm sunday people will probably be worn out from their weekend or end up not showing or leaving by like 11pm. I dont know. I am so torn.

I voted Sunday night (as a guest) because I am the type of person to take the following Monday off work so I can enjoy my friends / family members wedding

Re: WEDDING DAY/TIME POLL
Ah this is a hard one that me and my FH went through a little while ago.
Friday night pro: You have a whole weekend for your guests to enjoy with plenty of recovering time :) You have a weekend to enjoy as a married couple before the rush of work starts up again :) Its a kick off of the weekend!
Friday night con: OOT guests have to rush here to get to your wedding. Friday night rush hour traffic. Starting time of ceremony would vary.
Sunday night pro: A nice ending to a weekend :) Guests have an excuse to take off monday! You and your guests have a whole weekend to get ready for it..and relax before!
Sunday night con: OOT guests may have to rush back (if they cant get off the next day). People may feel they can enjoy themselves less being they have work the next day. People may also leave early to go home and get ready for the week.
AHH its tough, a fellow liw girl told me, and im so sorry i forgot who--you will never please everyone, so do what is best for you!!
we went with memorial day sunday...so its like a friday night but on a sunday :) Now im hearing from people that my guests may not show because they may go out of town..lol....point is, someone always has something to say!
hope this helps!

Re: WEDDING DAY/TIME POLL
I would most likely leave a wedding early if it was a sunday night at 8 to 1am...there would be no way I would stay for the whole thing with work the next day. I don't agree with needing a 'wedding weekend' because you are in such lovey land after the wedding it won't matter if you had a wedding weekend

Re: WEDDING DAY/TIME POLL
thanks carly. your right. it is a really tough decision. theres so many pro's and con's. But you know what, that li bride is right, it is what is best for us. I like the end of the weekend idea too, but it would suck for people to have to leave early or not be able to enjoy themselves. it just SUCKS I hate RH shopping and date picking. it is horrible!

i was torn at first too but then i thought forget that! my friends n fam love us and will party the night away even if it means going into wrk a little tired! lol we also figured w/ our date a lot of our OOT guests are from out of state so they may just make it a 4th of july week long trip :) just do w/e you think best suits you and ur guests - they will be there for you regardless b/c they love ya!

thanks. I am trying to figure it all out. It would be the Friday evening of Labor Day weekend. So it could be just one long weekend for all and FH thinks most will take off Friday.
Maybe we will win the lotto and then i could afford a saturday evening and not have this problem. (slim chance sincei dont play)

I would LOVE the twilight, but then Chateau Briand doesn't allow for outside use. And my FH and I both agree if we book CB we NEED to have a be in there outside area at night, and we were told it can only be 8-1. =(

Re: WEDDING DAY/TIME POLL
We had our wedding on Sunday, but the thing that made it work was that it was in the afternoon. Later is tough for people because of work. But if you have a late Friday night wedding, they at least have time to get home or don't have to leave too early from work to get there.

if you're doing it from 8 pm to 1 am then definitely friday night. i hate to say it but if it's that late at night on a sunday, you're going to have lots of people leaving early...

FH and I decided to do a Friday night because many of our guests are younger, and I know they want to drink, have a good time, and not have to worry about going to work the next day!

We too have a lot of young guests.
We have a lot of people coming in from OOT also, so they prefer Friday night so they can fly home on Sunday.
I think I am the only one who is pro sunday at this point. lol
