I feel silly but what is an alterations cap?

An alterations cap is the max that a certain place will charge you for alterations. Which is nice to know if you think you'll need a lot of work done, that it wont end up costing double the dress cost to have it fitted. Often times though the caps don't include things like the bussle or add ons, so you have to make sure to talk to a seamstress about what is included beforehand.

I got mine at Kleinfeld's and i believe my mom paid a little over $2,500 for everything including tax. I also got my alterations done there and the cap was $695. Really enjoyed my experience there and they people were nothing but nice, and never pushed anything on me. The alterations dept, was my favorite. Totally professional and they're on top of things. Always called and emailed to confirm my appt. and to make sure I brought all the necessary items I needed. I'm a bit of a scatter brain sometimes, so the reminders and emails were def helpful lol

I bought lazaro. It was going to cost me about $4500.00 or even more for the dress in the store. I really wanted this dress but not for the price so I went on preownedweddingdresses.com and bought my dress from a woman in California for 1400.00. Now I have to go to get it altered! But the dress is brand new- no marks. Was dry cleaned. I'm so happy. And I saved so much money!

I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how it all worked out with your dress! So glad it went well and it was in such great condition!

I got a Maggie Sottero at Helens Bridal in Commack for 1169 plus she threw in a free veil for up to 229. Alterations will come in at about 295 and bustle at 125/150. Loved them!

I bought my Hailey Paige Londyn for $2,575.00! (included 20% off free, free alterations and a free veil bought during trunk show)) Got it at Thea Tora Bridal.. Soo in love with the dress :)

I bought mine at bridal suite of centereach also. The dress with tax is about $853. My alterations cap is $450. Great experience so far with them!

I got mine from Bridal Suite of Centereach. I got a Maggie and it came out to $1910 with tax and alterations cap is $275 (but she said I most likely won't need many alterations) and bustle is $175.

It was just over $2,200. It's was a Demetrios dress from the Bridal Salon at Macy's in Manhasset. My alterations were only $210! I loved the people over there. Great experience.

This! I bought mine at Demetrios in Manhasset it as well. I had so much fun trying on all their beautiful gowns. They have really good customer service good. They have gowns of all price points and have several truck shows throughout the year. Bought my dress for $3000 plus tax. Got it on a super sale during a trunk shows. My alterations are $300 because they had to take it in since I lost weight. Otherwise it would have been less. I love my dress!!!

I got mine at Burtons Bridal in Mineola. It's a Maggie Sottero. I got it during s trunk sale. It was less than $1,500 and they only charge for a bustle and a hem so the alterations should be around $200-250
