Wedding Dress in a hurry

Original post by tineybean

I'm getting married in 5 weeks (Labor Day weekend) and I have no dress.
We just booked the venue last week (don't ask), and now the invitations are done and out.
The good news is that people have been willing to negotiate because of the slow economy and last minute nature of things. The bad news is, I have no dress.
I live in the NY area, and I'm about a size 14-16 in regular dresses; no clue in bridal ones. I am already looking at RK Bridal and my mom is into Kleinfeld's thanks to TLC. However, she's not figuring in turnaround time.
Did I mention that I have 5 weeks and no dress?
Any and all suggestions welcome, please just spare me the lecture about doing things on this kind of schedule. The family dynamic is enough to deal with...

You can also try Filene's Basement, which is having their Bridal event on August 14th in Long Island. The only problem is you have to get your dress cleaned and tailored, but its an option. Other than that, I say David's Bridal.

You could also look into the Bridal Garden.

http://www.bridalgarden.org/

The bridal garden sells donated dresses for a charity. Some dresses are pre-owned and others are new and donated to the garden. It would be worth a try.

I donated a brand new dress to the bridal garden in support of the public school system. They have great dresses in all sizes and the costs are reasonable. Also DB would have too.
