We got great news today - very surprising and very exciting. We found out that we are getting married at St. Patricks Cathedral in NYC! My FH had been working on this through a connection of his, and it came through. We couldnt' be more thrilled. He is super excited which means a tremendous amount to me. Anybody who knows my posts knows how upset I was about not marrying in the Catholic church, and now it's all working out. I was excited about marrying at the site, and had everything figured out - but I canot deny that I am thrilled to be making this commitment in a place that is so special to the both of us. The Cathedral and NYC.
The glitch? My mom is FURIOUS. She told me that she thinks it would have been more special using the original plan, that this will be so inconvenient, how will everybody get there, she doesn't want to walk down the aisle now, what about my sisters kids and finall....'nobody will come - the church will be empty'. With all the stress and planning, and now all the alterations that have to be made, I just wish she could say 'that's amazing once in a lifetime'. But of course not. It's all about her inconvenience and making me feel uncomfortable about our choice.
Keep in mind - my mom has done VERY little to help me. She lives about 5 hours from me in the Summer and has even complained that my shower falls on a 'great beach weekend'. I guess I am just venting. And I think I am stressed out with all this. Thanks for listening girls (and guy!)

My oldest sister got married at St. Pat's Cathedral in June of 1983 (yes, I'm old). It was AMAZING!!!!!!! I could never walk down the center aisle w/out tripping or breaking down.
Her reception was 3 blocks away at a great restaurant (my dad's!) and she had all 3 floors there. Her *limos* were hansom cabs!!!! SOOOOOO cool. Tourists were taking pics of her and her DH because they thought they were celebrities!! HEHE
I wouldn't pass up this opportunity!! I would have fought tooth & nail to get married there if my DH was Catholic!!
Have you scheduled pre-cana yet?! Best of luck!! Do what you and your FH want and don't worry about your mom!!

Guys thanks so much for the well wishes. It's so nice to see my FH excited FINALLY (a lot of you know my story from recent posts...) We really seem connected on this and are extremely excited. Its so nice to be concentrating on the CEREMONY this way.
We mee the Mnsgr. tomorrow. We are scheduling pre-cana then (I know we are a little late but they are fitting us in), and we will I guess get asked the million questions that go along with this! Hopefully he'll still agree to marry us after all that!!!
I'll let you guys know. Stef - I dont' know if it's cathedral or chapel. I will find that out tomorrow. The ceremony will be at 2:00 though - this I do know!
