Just wondering what each of you were paying for your wedding gowns.
I'm torn between 2 gowns, a $708 Private Label gown and a $2,500 Scaasi gown. Big price difference between the two, but I can't make up my mind.
I wasn't sure if $2,500 was a lot to spend on just the dress. I still need a headpiece, veil, shoes, etc.
Thanks ladies!

Re: Wedding gown budget
I read somewhere that you should spend around 10% of your total wedding budget on your dress (so if your wedding costs $20,000, then a $2,000 dress is fitting). I really didn't want to spend much on my dress and luckily found the one I wanted and it only cost $1,000. But of course, after the shoes, veil, fittings, etc. it's going to cost more. Good luck with your decision!

Re: Wedding gown budget
I'm paying $1600.00 for my Marisa dress, which I'm told is not a lot. I'm getting my headpiece at Patchogue Floral and it's about $80.00. I found my shoes at Target last week for $20.00! Good luck to you!!!!

Re: Wedding gown budget
I paid $1160 for my gown and that included a headpiece/veil free of charge. I got mine for Burtons for hundreds of dollars off the retail price at Macys. I guess whether or not $2500 is highl depends on your overall whole wedding budget. It would be high for me but probably wouldn't be for most people.
This may be a trip for all you girls but...1385 Broadway in NYC is the place to go. They have every designer you can possible imagine. It’s a huge building with big and small boutiques for brides and BM dresses. My sister bought a traditional gown all Italian satin...work everywhere...and an attached cathedral train...for the price of $750.00...in other places that dress would have been over 1,500. Can’t hurt to check it out

Re: Wedding gown budget
I am paying $2,650 for my gown (only)..but it is custome made for me from scratch.....no ordering....
I paid about $1500 for everything (dress, headpiece, undergarment, alterations)
I gave myself a budget and wouldn't let myself try on anything over my budget (so I didn't fall in love with anything) However I found my dress by magazine ad and knew I wanted it before I heard the price...good thing it was in my budget...
for some people the fabric is very important...and therefore the more expensive dresses would fit that criteria...
My sister got a private label and is happy with it.

Thanks for your responses. I just made appointments to re-try on the 2 dresses and hopefully I will be able to make up my mind.
Thanks again

Re: Wedding gown budget
Karen if I were you I would totally go for the $708 dress, the price difference is huge.
My budget is $1000 or less. Every salon I went in I told them that and I have so many dresses to choose from its crazy and they are all gorgeous.
I am hoping to spend only $600, that would be perfect.
I want the perfect dress but I cant imagine spending over $1000 for one day. I already found 4 perfect dresses all in the $800 dollar range (without bargaining).
Good Luck deciding

Re: Wedding gown budget
I think you need to be happy and feel beautful. Whichever gown does that for you is the ONE. My gown with headpiece/veil/shoes/wrap/gloves/bag/under garments etc..is about $2400 in total. But I got my dress at a lower price because the salon did not have the sample. You can also call around and find her $2K+ dress cheaper.

Re: Wedding gown budget
I paid $800 for my dress, which will include the alterations, bussle and full slip underneath (crazy how they charge for every little thing). But still, it was a great price. Mine is an Alfred Angelo, and I got it at Lynbrook bridal. They also offered 1/2 off headpieces, which I will be looking for shortly. I have a feeling I won't be buying it there though, because I wasn't thrilled with their selection. My friend offered to let me borrow hers, so I'm going to try it on - it's beautiful and you can't beat the price - hahaha!
Personally I couldn't spend 2,500 on a dress, but that's because my budget wouldn't allow for it. I'm not against it and I think you should do what you can afford and what you love!!
