Wedding is over a year away and already having guest list issues

FI spoke to his mom tonight and we were going over the guest list for the e-party which is in august and who wasnt invited to this but will be to the wedding (out of staters, etc...)

so FI told his mom that we do not want kids at the wedding. His mom flipped. She yelled at him that he has to invite his 2 small cousins who are 4 and 5. (they'll be 5 and 6 next year) He tried to explain to her why we dont want kids (these 2 are demons on earth and will be the only kids at the wedding. Their are no small children) she said I dont care they have to be there. He said 'fine they'll be invited but I am telling you now those kids better be on their best behavior or their will be a problem' his mom said fine they will be spoken too.

He the tells her we have the seating chart in order. Well some of it. His mom said that his aunt has to sit with her 5 kids (at the time of the wedding they will be 17, 15, 13, 6, 5). FI said no all my cousins will be at one table and all the adults will be at one table (we have it figured out and it works out perfect). She said no kerri, doug and the 5 kids will sit together.

Please tell me I am not the only one who has these issues?? What issues did you ladies have when planning your wedding????

Funny how family is sometimes...

My mom doesn't want them there anyway.. after long-standing family issues, when my grandmother passed away in april, they had my mother kicked out of the funeral home!!!!

I want to invite them and if they show have them kicked out of the reception hall

I am expecting trouble...my FMIL wishes to invite everyone....people that are connect to the sixth degree....insane...i wanted 100 people...FH talked me up to 150 (more so also bec the hall i wanted required a 150 min ) But....still ....i am expecting A LOT more to deal with....

I'm inviting my dad's side of the family but not my dad - and the family won't find out until they get there LOL!! I was thinking about inviting stepmom's family too since they were always nice to me but I don't want them to be uncomfortable.

I have all the same problems. We are getting married in 5 month and still dont have half the addresses from FI. And he said that he may add/delete people from the list.

My father keeps adding people - he wants me to invite my Aunt Margie (divorsed my uncle john, who is deceased, when I was 6), I've probably seen her twice since then. He wants me to invite three cousins who live in Florida, and I've met then twice in my life. We are only having 150 people..I finally told him it is either his friends or the relatives. Someone has to be cut, the room only holds 150..

It is so annoying!!!!!

I don't know what it is with some men.....I am having the same issue....I need 5 addresses and have been asking for months...I don't think they get it Plus I need the first name of a relative that married into the family recently but didn't have a wedding....how hard is it to ask another relative the name?!

Plus the invitation has to be translated into Italian for his family...I gave him the invite two months ago to do this...is it just me or men just don't realize that things to be done and not at the last minute?!

Thanks for letting me vent....I am sure guest list issues will come up for me soon

I know what was I thinking??!!

This year I have had so much stress and aggrevation....its crazy!! You figure people would want to help and make things a little bit easier. Like one of the girls said before its like pulling teeth to get info...I keep telling my fh if he don't get me the info by a certain date I am cutting guests off the list...lol.....I don't know what men are thinking...imagine if we left the planning to them?!

OMG IF I left the planning to FI we would be having our reception at the bowling alley or his mothers backyard.

melisa- i totaly agree with you not wanting kids there... especially ones that dont behave well.. i think its a good idea to keep the ladies older children at a separate table(a young table)... however to punish the parents I think you should put the 2 young kids at the table with their parents.. and tell the parents that they are responsible for making sure there 2 children behave well... maybe she'll think of getting a babysitter

the youngest children at mine will be 16,13,10.. the 13 year old is in the bridal party(sitting at the head table) and I was thinking of putting the other 2 at the parents table(so they dont bug the young adults)..

Chippa....you have your work cut out for yourself with the children!! I decided that nobody under 18 is gonna be there....that would add about 30 more guests!! If I left the planning to my fh the whole thing would be a mess!!
