Wedding is over a year away and already having guest list issues

FI spoke to his mom tonight and we were going over the guest list for the e-party which is in august and who wasnt invited to this but will be to the wedding (out of staters, etc...)

so FI told his mom that we do not want kids at the wedding. His mom flipped. She yelled at him that he has to invite his 2 small cousins who are 4 and 5. (they'll be 5 and 6 next year) He tried to explain to her why we dont want kids (these 2 are demons on earth and will be the only kids at the wedding. Their are no small children) she said I dont care they have to be there. He said 'fine they'll be invited but I am telling you now those kids better be on their best behavior or their will be a problem' his mom said fine they will be spoken too.

He the tells her we have the seating chart in order. Well some of it. His mom said that his aunt has to sit with her 5 kids (at the time of the wedding they will be 17, 15, 13, 6, 5). FI said no all my cousins will be at one table and all the adults will be at one table (we have it figured out and it works out perfect). She said no kerri, doug and the 5 kids will sit together.

Please tell me I am not the only one who has these issues?? What issues did you ladies have when planning your wedding????

Guest list? What guest list? Brian didn't give me any guest list...(That's what my problem is...)

I think the guest list is the worst part. I cringe when I look at it. There are close co-workers I would rather invite than family that I see once every ten years.

Oh welcome to my world!! I have the same issues and let me tell you it only gets worse the closer you get to the wedding. I didn't want kids at the wedding either but my dad was under the impression that it was a family barbaque instead of a wedding and i can't tell you how many migranes i had everytime I left his house. He wanted my step-brother ( who lives upstate and I have maybe met 4 times) to come with his 3 kids. I said 'No' and then my dad said 'Well then he probably can't come'...OH WELL to bad then he can't come . I really could care less i don't even know the man! So believe me I feel your pain and i fell very bad for you! Just stick to your guns ...remember it's your DAY!!

Yeah FFIL doesn't want to invite any guests - but assumes that they will be sat with my parents - who have family member that they want to sit with - FBIL told me that they don't want their children there so that they can party - so I basically have a table of 4 b/c with FFIL's comments there is no one to sit them with.

DOes anyone else have this problem with pulling teeth for an address or two? HAVE THE BP DIDN'T GET STD CARDS BECAUSE HE HASN'T ASKED THEM TO BE IN THE WEDDING YET!!!

I actually gave brian his guest list. I know his family and friends and whoever I was missing he can just fill me in on. And so far no one.

Anthony STILL has not asked his friend to do the reading!!!! and I basically had to bother him everyday to tell his GM that they were in it. What is wrong with them???

We are not having children at our wedding either and if that means some people will choose not to come, then FINE. I don't want them to come and then make a fuss about 'oh my poor children are home with a sitter and it's such a lovely party, too bad they weren't invited' and so on and so forth. Their presence will not be missed.

Yup, when I originally asked my FMIL for address she told me ok I will get them for you by June! I am getting married in July. She married off 3 daughters she knows better. FH went to work with a clip board and passed it around. I think half his plant was invited. People I never met and know that is he is not that close to. We can't not invite them now because they had the clipboard and know it was for our wedding.

I have decided for seating, I am assigning FMIL, my Mom, my Dad and us certain tables and telling them to place them and see how that works. Don't know if it will but I am going to try it.

I answer the phone and I miss so many responses.

I was talking to my mom and she said well if Kerry's kids act up then they'll be asked to leave.

eternity I wish it was that easy with us. His aunt will literally throw a fit. This same aunt is mad at Brian because he didnt personally go to her and tell her he was engaged. He went to PA to tell his mom in person, he went to tell his grandfather in person and his other aunt knew because she was holding the ring. But this one aunt is mad because he didnt personally go to her. OMG Get over it Kerry.

At least we have time to debate this with his mom and prepare his aunt.

How did you ladies handle all your situations??? what did you do???

I had one of our BM's wive's pull the , 'Do you have a RB yet?' and then even have the ***** to say well WE(ie her and the GM) might not be able to make it if she can't bring her 3 year old son and her other baby who will be 6 months at our wedding. She even had the nerve to say taht is we invited her mother, she won't have a babysitter so....(implying they should come too...) I wanted to say don't you have any friends?????

I have an aunt & uncle that will probably not show when they find out the kids arent' invited. And they don't even know we set the date yet either - that is going to create a nightmare when they get the invite!! They are the type that want to be the first to know everything and they arent even nice to me and FH!! And they are extremely nasty to my mother - and this is her sister!!! I love my little cousins, but that would also mean I would have to allow all my OTHER little cousins, and there are just too many. Just explain you don't want anyone else's kids to be left out either, but at the same time you simply cannot have all of them there. That's what I'm planning on telling her.

BTW - this aunt and uncle live 5 MINUTES from my house and have never once invited me & FH over for coffee or to spend time with kids.
