How much do you anticipate getting for your wedding gifts compared to what you are spending?
Obviously none of us are getting married JUST to get $ and not everyone wil make their $ back.
Just curious what you anticipate.
FH always wonders about this since we are spending so much $. (although not as much as most, still a lot for us)

I do not think we will make back close to what we are paying. We have over 200 guests and I have gone overboard on everything.
The good thing is that we are paying cash for the entire wedding so whatever we make will be our down payment on our house

i'd be surprised if we even got half of it back. i learned from our e-party to not bank on gifts to cover the costs lol

I'm not sure what we'll be getting but I doubt it will cover the cost of the wedding but I am ok with this. I'm having a wedding because i want a wedding

this is a huge fight between FH and i... he wants the big extravagant thing and i like small and simple.. but anyway.. he insists that we will make back EVERYTHING... i say.. CR@P!!! my family does not give large gifts nor do that follow the 'pay for your plate' theory so i knwo we will not make it back from my family and im ok with that.. but we shall see.. if we get anything im happy!!

my parents spent about 3000 on my engagement party and we made 4500 so im thinking we will get most back from the wedding....

We got back about 50% in money gifts. DH's family is not from LI so I was expecting this and was thrilled by people's generosity.

I don't think you ever make money back. Gifts cover some of the costs but not all.

I have no clue what to expect.
My cousin made 100k in gifts!!! She also had a 400 person wedding though, so that was about what her parents spent on the wedding anyway (and believe me, they threw an extravagant wedding for themselves, not for her).

Well, since FH and I are paying for the entire shebang ourselves, whatever we get back will be a repayment to ourselves. We are not charging ANY of our wedding costs...all cash up front and out of the way. So, I'm sure we won't make back all....if we make back a nice number and can bank it, since we won't have debt, I'll feel as if we made out like bandits (I hope! lol)

I think we will get most back, but definitely not all. We got a great deal on the RH so that helps, but we may end up eating like $4000. Not including HM. His family is big on gifts, but Im not sure about my family And I have a small family.
Whatever we get back will go towards a DP on a house. We arent putting ANYTHING on credit cards at all. We dont do it normally so why do it for a wedding.

I dont expect to get nearly as much back as were spending. But im okay with that cause I really just want everyone to come. We've said from the begining that were going into this with the thought that all this money were spending is gone, cause you cant count on gifts.

i dont believe we will get near back as to what we put in to it, we have 250 guest, and i put alot in to everything, i just want everyone to have a great time and remember our special day , so its worth every bit of money i spend.

Not even close to making money..I may get back the hall money thats all.
hmm this is a tough one. . . my brother and sister told me to expect back less than half
like a PP said - on our wedding day we are starting at ZERO with NO DEBT at all. . . so whatever we make back goes straight to the bank for a house. . . so we will feel rich no matter what
