We are. We bought a house in June and we are going through the heavy duty construction phase right now. Our wedding night will be our first night in our new home!

That's nice...at least it is your first night so it makes it special. FH and I will have owned our home for a little over 2 yrs when we get married. I'm not sure what we'll do.

FH wanted to stay at the Garden City Hotel and originally I was all in as it has a great rep for its restaurants etc. Then I checked it out on Trip Advisor and it has pretty bad reviews for not being updated in a really long time, they won't budge on late checkout even for newlyweds, etc. Read them for yourself. I was very surprised to hear this but anyway... due to the bad reviews we will be staying at Oheka Castle, which I am completely psyched about!

What does it cost to stay at Oheka? Did you look into staying at de Seversky?

We stayed at the same hotel our OOT guests booked. We got to spend some time with them after the reception and saw them the next morning...at least DH did I was dead to the world until waaaaaaay later

we did the same thing ... we used the huntington hilton (on route 110)

except we didn't see anyone after the reception, ours didn't end until after 1am, we didn't get back to the hotel until around 3am. we were !!!

but we had brunch with all our guests who stayed at the hotel the next morning, it was really nice to see everyone before they went home.

The prices to stay at Oheka obviously change depending on what time of year you will be there. I looked up prices on Trip Advisor, Travelocity, etc. and they are much cheaper than booking directly with Oheka. I beleive it was $349 and up.

De Seversky is $350 and includes breakfast the next morning but checkout is super early ay 10:00!

BTW...De Seversky is not a hotel so you can't stay there othewise I Most definitely would!

I am pretty sure you can stay in the bridal suite at de Seversky. I think it's just you in the house.

Re: Wedding night

I saw this yesterday and realized FH and I hadn't spoken about this yet, so I asked him last night. He said he definitely wants to stay in our new house together - he wants to carry me over the threshold. :) Works for me! I can't wait to spend our first night in our new home together!

Is anyone staying at home?

My FH and I were discussing that last night. I wanted to stay at the hotel where our guest will be staying and he would like to stay home. So right now we don't know what we're doing. In my family, traditionally you stay at the hotel along with out of town guests and whoever else wants to stay and then you offer a breakfast the next morning. FH feels it's unnecessary and we don't have to do what everyone else does. So...I don't know what we're going to do

I'm in the same boat... i want to stay at the hotel! I think I will get my way if we get the bsuite for free..

We are staying in a really romantic B&B close to the vineyard and staing a few extra days for a mini moon...

I actually booked the room a couple of days for before the wedding so I can go there and relax alone befoer the big day.

I can't wait!

That's a great idea !!

We stayed at our house...we had a cleaning lady come during the day and clean it - so we were walking into a spotless house with clean sheets - it was soo nice to just be at HOME after the longest day of your life!!! There is nothing like my bed - and I didn't feel cheated at all, not having a special room or anything.
