You're not crazy. I thought I was going to keep mine under $20K too, but the hall alone will cost that.

Re: wedding prices
I think you can do it, it's just gonna be a little harder, searching for deals and doing a lot on your own. I would have loved to keep our wedding under 20K, but unfortunately for the number of people (hopefully) coming to our reception and the fact that I wanted a Saturday night, our reception alone is going to be more than that. Also, my parents are paying for the reception which makes things easier on us.
But, FH and I are responsible for a few vendors and we have worked really hard in our search for good vendors that won't charge us an arm and a leg. They are out there- it just takes some researching!
Good Luck!!!! We're all here to help!!

Re: wedding prices
I wanted to be under 10... then I realized how much having a tent with a good caterer was... so I aimed for 15... then I fell in love with my hall - which is NOT expensive BUT... still pushed me over where I wanted to be. I still hope to slide in at 20G...

Re: wedding prices
the cost really depends on where, when and howmany people. You can do it on a budget but $20,000 seems kind of difficult-- but I'm sure not impossible.

Re: wedding prices
FH and I are paying about 35K and this includes everything. When we 1st started planning the wedding FH sat down and made a list of all the things we needed or wanted and decided on estimated prices for each. We booked things based on how important it was or what needed to be done 1st. I have to say this was this best way to go about it. Even though we are about 5K above budget, I could have easily spent more if we didn't plan it right. GOOD LUCK

Re: wedding prices
I originally figured between $35K-$40K but that is for 200 people. We haven't booked a lot of vendors yet but I think we will stay in that budget. If you have a smaller wedding the cost of the hall is half the price and have it during the day. Maybe consider a holiday that falls during the week or a thursday night.

You can do it. I'm doing it. I'm only having 80 ppl for that reason. I can't even imagine doing more than that. There's ways to do things beautifully - you just have to pick and choose what's important to you, and do some things yourself.
ABSOLUTELY!!! We are doing the same thing! You can Def have a beautiful wedding for 20 k or under! Be creative. Also, there is a book you can get used at Ebay called 'How to Have A Fabulous Wedding for 20,000 or Less' by Sharon Naylor. Great ideas!

Re: wedding prices
You're not crazy, it can be done. Start wby cutting what you're already uninterested in: sculptures, chocolate fountain, etc. Day of the week, time, and month of the year are all key. CP can be inexpensive, DIY or something other than flowers. Floral budget can be drastically altered. Transportation can be an area to cut in. Photographer can also be an area to save in, NOT on the quality of the vendor, but as far as the package you choose. We opted to not go with a particular package, but are getting the album we love, and the disc to print our own from later, for parent albums and such. If you keep your budget to hall, dj, photo, dress, you can really keep it reasonable. BTW, I am LOVING not having a whole bunch of extra stuff to worry about, since it wasn't important to us anyhow. Best of luck to you!

Re: wedding prices
you can do it!!! i am doing my wedding for about 180 people and we're not going over 20K. our initial budget was 15K, but realisitcally, it will be closer to the 20K with EVERYTHING!!! FM is you need details..... the key is finding an affordable hall because that will be at least 50% of your budget, if you're having a decent sized wedding. there are QUALITY and affordable vendors out there. (FYI: most of them are not on this site!)
