No no no...don't give up now. Have a talk with your dad. Explain that you've already put deposits & money into all these vendors & dresses, etc. It's strange that he would decide NOW that he is not paying. You said he went to the doctor - is he okay?

wow...... I just read this and looked down on my computer... I had gone out to lunch one day and gotten a fortune cookie, and taped it on my screen... it reads ' The hard times will begin to fade, joy will take their place' ..
I got this on a day when I got some medical bad news... since then things have picked up a bit for me... I send my fortune to you now.........

Just a suggestion, because my FH and I discissed this in case my parents refused something and helpd paying for the wedding over our heads....
Keep the date - you have so much anyway, and get married on a beach, or a park, and those who love you will be there even if there is no music, food, etc, and then maybe people will pitch in for a lovely dinner. Like I said, this is our backup plan just in case.
no - it's not bells and whistles, and yes, I want the dream wedding too, but since we are not in the position to pay ourselves, and since my parents have been difficult at times and holding the money as a threat, we felt better knowing we can still do this with or without them. The most important thing is that you have each other, and it shows how strong your relationship is by getting thru this. Imagine what will happen in the future - now you guys know how you deal with difficult issues.

That is really f!@#$in selfish of your dad. Is he always like this? How can he say he's going to pay for your wedding, then back out last minute. Honestly, he sounds out of it. Why would he want to lose his money. Did you get into a fight or soemthing, or was he drinking. That really makes me angry for you. Girl, if I were you, I would tell him he is losing his money, then you and your FH can plan your own smaller wedding. It is your day, make it the best you can

last time my Dad was alittle drunk he got into a fight with me and his new GF and his will
needless to say he doesn't remember and told my sister he is making her sign a pre-nup

Well girls i think the wedding is off.... my dad came to a decision today that he is not paying for the wedding. he thinks that $30,000 is crazy for one night.. only 169 days left and this is what i get.... fh parents won't pay even half.... (it is not there job) grrrrrrrrrrrr dad is set on going to the bahamas to get married and fh says taht is crazy and not going.... gosh now what i am in this in the middle and everything is booked i am never getting the wedding of my dreams.... i am so upset and fh is not home because he is at the ranger game for his fav player retireing tonight............. please help me girls!
