What are your opinions about a Thursday ceremony and reception? I'm thinking about June 1, 2006. Here's a brief explanation on why I'm considering it...I have 290 people I HAVE TO invite, I'm on a tight budget, I want an outdoor wedding so the temperture has to be right, I don't have too many out of towners and my FH's taste is very expensive! Initially we were going to have a destination wedding which everyone we are close to was happy to attend but my father wasn't crazy about it and he's helping us out. So if my guest can go away then I was thinking a weeknight wedding wouldn't be so bad.

Re: Weekday wedding
Would I do it? probally not. I understand the money situation, but mid week and people have work. Either that day so they have to come afterwards or if its at night they have to go to work the next day. so if your heart is set on that day send the invites out extra early

I want to thank all of you for your opinions, I'm taking into consideration everything that was mentioned. We are going to start actually going to places and sitting down with them, I'm just going to look for the best options for my budget.

Re: Weekday wedding
you're saying you have 280 people you HAVE to invite...but you're going to wind up with WAY less than that coming. I'm sure the's another options, sunday during the day, monday of a holiday weekend, jan or feb months, cheaper hall, than to have it on a thursday. Thursday is just ridiculous IMO.

Re: Weekday wedding
I have 290 people that I HAVE TO invite but honestly they are alot of people that are on the list that we don't see or talk to but they are FAMILY and will be offended if not invited. And my parents are helping so I can't tell them that I won't invite them since I'm a distant family member. The way I feel is if my closest family and friends were willing to take off days to go away with me for a destination wedding then if need be they can take off a day or two. I already ran the idea to some family and friends and no one has given me negative feedback....but again I am going to search and if its a few $$ difference to do it on a Sunday then Sunday it will be but if its a significant saving....then its a Thursday.

Re: Weekday wedding
Thursdays are great!!!! I am getting married in 6 weeks on Thursday June 30th (the thursday before July 4th.) I can get everything that I want because the cost per person is less. I do however think that you should try to find out if the thursday before July 4th next year is available. It has made it so much easier for our guests because they can make it a long weekend. I say go for the Thursdays. Beth

Re: Weekday wedding
Although it may be inconvenient to some....you have to look at it this way: the people that really care will show up!So what you have to do.l

Re: Weekday wedding
If I'm being honest, I would have to say that I would biatch and moan about having to attend a Thursday night wedding. Since you don't have an option about inviting all of these people, I really think you should be willing to sacrifice the time of year. You could have a winter wedding on a weekend instead of inconveniencing 280 people. Sorry, I know that wasn't the response you were looking for, but that's how I feel.

sorry, IMO, Saturday is the day for weddings. If need be, guests are already being inconvinenced by Friday/Sundays. So Thursday would be out of the question.
I agree.

Re: Weekday wedding
Hey Chas, Go for the Thursday!! Remember if you're inviting 290 look at places that say can accomodate 300 But tell them you're only inviting 260. You'll get a better # on your guarantee, that way you won't be wasting money on the extra dinners. So many people overestimate and then get stuck paying the guarantee. I would say 200-225 is a good guarantee for that amount. I invited 311 for a Wednesday night and they said I had to guarantee 200. I ended up with about 235 people total and 6 no-shows. (That's 76 no's, probably because it was on Wednesday) Like they say, the people who want to be there will support you.

Re: Weekday wedding
We are invited to a Thursday night wedding in July and its kind of inconvenient. I have to leave work early thursday, take off for my second job on thursday night and be miserable at work on Friday, plus find a babysitter(hard to find during the week late at night). As a bride i understand that its more cost effective, but as a guest, i would much rather attend a weekend wedding.

Re: Weekday wedding
Just wanted you to know that my sister is getting married on a Monday Afternoon. It is on Labor Day , September 5th. She is getting married at Russo's On the Bay and her price per plate is $65.00. That is an amazing price for Russo's. Most people have off that day and it is in the afternoon so people won't be home late for work the next day. If you send Save the Dates in advance then people will know not to go away that weekend. I always felt that if people want to be there for you they will come no matter what. I was married on a Sunday and the next day was Columbus Day. Just wanted to let you know. Good Luck to you!! No matter what you choose it is going to be great!!!
