Weight loss support thread

Original post by hmpena

I decided to start this thread for all of us that need support, encouragement, or want to support someone else.

I am trying to stay motivated and get in shape by joining weight watchers. Let's hope I see some results!

We can do it!!

Re: Weight loss support thread

I think I need to join this thread. I gained back some of the weight I originally lost on WW and I just keep stuffing my face and straying. I haven't written out my journal in weeks. :( I just can't bring myself to diet again or even just behave myself and I don't know why. I guess it's all the stress I'm under. HELP!

We're here for you Cindy! The first step is the hardest- realizing that something has to change.

Awww, Cindy - don't get discouraged!!! Stop looking at it as stuffing your face and straying, it makes it sound like you need to be punished for something and that is just plain wrong!!! If you follow POINTS, there is NO reason you can't have that cookie (or ice cream or chocolate or whatever FYI Dove chocolate pieces are 1 point each). I haven't done my daily journal in two months, but I know (and so do you) how many slices of pizza I can eat in one sitting (we both know it's not the entire pie ). Try to remember that WW is NOT a diet, it is a different way of looking at eating. Eat healthy, try to skip seconds, limit desserts, but don't deprive yourself of what you want.

I'm starting my attempt to lose weight today. I am horrible at eating right, so hopefully I can last more than a week. And Saturday I am going to go to Lucille Roberts to see how much it costs to join. I need to get my butt into motion - less than 1 year! I'm hoping that eating better and exercising will give me more energy!

Yeah, you're right. I did WW long enough to generally know what amounts are good. However, I keep identifying the wrong choices and making them anyway. Like, do I want that 1pt. apple OR 2 slices of Muenster cheese for 6 pts. MMM! Cheese!

For the cheese obsession, try the mini baby-bells. They come in a lite version for 1 point each!!! They are very very yummy. And if you buy the big bag at BJ's you save lots of $$.

Yeah, I love them. It's really all about me gaining self control. I know exactly what I should and shouldn't be eating but I'm constantly rewarding myself. I think I need to set a goal that Sunday I start logging in WW Journal and behaving once more. It's the only way for me.

Exercise is the key. Cardio kickbox has given me success. There is a place called Master Parella's in Carle Place. His kickboxing classes are INSANE!!! There is also a location in Glen Oaks, Queens.

I was just going to say that Tae Bo (cardio kickboxing) is great!! I have tried everything - running, weight training, etc., and I recently started my tae bo tapes again (I have like 30 tapes)....and I am losing inches already. It is HARD HARD HARD to do (last night I seroiusly thought I was going to die), but it WORKS!!

I just started walking to work - today was Day 1. I haven't been able to diet, or even really eat healthy in months - from the bar exam to moving twice, there's just been too much other stressful stuff going on. I was supposed to start dieting and working out last week - my last week of freedom (I started work this week), but I just had ZERO motivation after everything else. So, for now it's baby steps... less eating out, starting to pay attention to portion control (put down that 3rd cookie!!!), walking to work, and hopefully as soon as I get used to waking up in single digit numbers again, I can start out the day with a workout too. I wanted a gym in my building so I better use it!!! It's been really rough but I'm trying very hard to get back on track.

Congratulations!!! You are on the right track. Take things one step at a time and you'll be more likely to succeed!

Thanks Hollie! I'm trying really hard to do that. And today, I just noticed a breakthrough... not from yesterday and walking to work but ever since I moved to Manhattan, I've been walking more generally and although I have not yet lost weight, I just noticed today that my butt has lifted. FH thought I was flexing when I asked him about it!!! This is so encouraging! I love it when stuff like this happens... now I'm just waiting for some pants to start feeling loose!
Thanks for all the support girls!

Re: Weight loss support thread

Ok, so I feel good today. yesterday I had to go to my old job for a meeting and was told by 2 different people that I look like I lost weight. That really motivated me to make sure I work out today. I am going to WW tomorrow to weigh in and hope that I lost some more!

Wow! Everytime you go to the gym you are there for 2.5 hours? I am so impressed. I'm not sure I have even been in the month of September. I could really use some motivation ladies.

Re: Weight loss support thread

I was just gonna bump this thread! This week @WW I lost another 1.2 pounds! So, overall, I've lost 8.6 pounds in 3 months. I feel like it's been slow, but I don't have that much to lose. I've exercised 2x this week. And today (well, yesterday! ) I was able to slide right into jeans that haven't fit in MONTHS!!!! I was so excited. Ladies, we can do this! Not just for our weddings, but to be healthy!
