Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
I did it for a little while last year. I only needed to lose about 10 lbs but it works - i lost about 5 in a matter of a week or so! It just is time consuming to keep on having to plan meals! Good luck & keep up the good work!

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
Has anyone trying to lose up to 10lbs been discouraged by weightwatchers? I was yesterday at the meeting, where a lady told me that I won't be losing as much weight as most people b/c I am not overweight to begin with. When I asked her at what rate did she think I could lose weight, she couldn't give me an answer, and made me feel very unwelcome!!!. I tried to stay in my point range yesterday, but I think I hit the highest border, b/c I couldn't prevent myself from eating a snack late at night (celery sticks didn't satisfy, so I had a spoon of peanut butter). I'll try to stay in range today and maybe give it a month. If I won't lose a pound in a month, that means I need something tougher than weightwatchers.

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
I also have done WW and did it online. I joined last February and using it online you do it basically on your own. Journaling is very important. I've lost 36 pounds. Water is very important and exercise. It doens't have to be overdone but get some moving into your daily routine. Walking, running, swimming and weight training for strength are a big help and get you going. Also, have a lot of fruit and veggies in your diet -- it helped me the most and they are the lowest points on WW.
GOOD LUCK!

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
Alina,WW does work great! I've seen you and you are very thin silly. Of course the skinniest girl will insist she needs to lose something. I don't think WW was trying to discourage you, I think they were trying to tell you NOT to be upset if you don't see the scale go down as quickly as others might. They also cannot tell you how much they think you will lose, because they can be wrong, ya know? WW usually averages 1-2 pounds a week. Don't worry about it. If you stick to WW correctly, I assure you that you will lose MORE than 1 pound in a month. Good luck! Don't be discouraged yet!

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
I'm trying it for a month, if it doesn't work, then something else.Meanwhile here is a question. If you eat more than 1 cup of zero point veggies, at what point does it become 1 or 2 or 3 points? I've been snackign on celery sticks and broccoli all morning, and now I feel full, but I must have had like 2-3 cups by now.
For breakfast I had a muffin top (I am counting it as half a muffin, 3 points) and a coffee with regular milk (1 point). My goal is to figure out how to have mongolian barbeque with veggies and beef and keep it around 12 points - I normally don't use the sauces, just have the guys steam it and add my own soy sauce as I eat.

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
I'm pretty sure you can eat as many veggies as you want!!! That's the best part of this diet, you can get full on veggies this way you can save your points for something YUMMY!!
Hmmm... as for your Mongolian meal... you will have to figure out the amount of points in the beef. If you have the book or able to get online you can figure it out. Most of the veggies in it should be zero points, so that wouldn't count. And then the soy sauce you will have to calculate! Good luck! Enjoy, that Mongolian bbq, sounds delicious!

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
Also for anyone on WW, keep in mind, that almost EVERY beverage has points too. Including, beer & wine. Not sure how many wine drinkers there are out there, but each glass has like 2-3 points!I know may be bad news for some of us ladies, but it has to be calculated! Sorry

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
You do have to watch certain veggies, like carrots. Because they have a high sugar content, too many can translate into a point or 2.Best of Luck ladies!! I'm trying to find a local meeting for either Saturday or Sunday!!

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
Laura,I got the materials (point counter, and a few little booklets) from my MIL who joined in 1998, but i realized that things have changed. (my book has 1 cup of pasta as 3 points, and its now 4 points)..so i really want all updated 2003 materials. i think all you need is the food companion (its a book with points counted for you on many foods) and the cardboard thing (whats thatcalled ladies ???) Which you can use to determine points of any food on a supermarket shelf.
im not sure whats the cheapest way to do this:
A) Join, get the materials and not go back (I really dont need the added expense of membership!!)
B) get them off ebay -theyre not cheap !
*The starter kit (includes everything) is going for over $45
*The pocket guide alone is going for $3-$4
*Dining out book - $20
---Can any of the WW pro's tell us what is included in the starter kit and what the price of the kit is for members ?
how about the dining outbook ?
Thanks!
C) ask a member to buy them for you.

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
AnnaI ended up joining online today and I am glad I did-- I like the ease of not having to look anything up or having to carry things with me to work-- I can just go online and search for what I need--
It costs less than meetings-- I joined for 3 months and will see where I am once that time is up--there are other online resources to use once I become more comforatble/familiar with the program
Here are some of the sites that are useful
Dotties Weight Loss Zone
Journal to Success
Storm PC

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
I also am doing WW on my own, and have lost 42 pounds. Only 20 more to go. It took a good 8 months before people started to actually see the weight loss.A big lifesaver for me was tomato juice and grape tomatoes. I have no idea why I craved it , but it was something I had to have. I never crave that. Also, shrimp was a lifesaver for me.
I noticed that I go towards chicken , turkey and fish a lot. I also, allow myself one cheat day so I stay on track all week. I picked Saturday night as my night to eat whatever I want, now it is not a big deal to me for that one night becuase I have noticed that even if I feel I am cheating I really am not, you get so used to the points that eventually you are not as hungry, at least for me that is how it worked.
I also joined an exercise class thru the local adult ed, and I walk a lot as well as drink a lot of water.
Good luck on the diet, it is a great one!

Re: Weight Watchers Anyone ?
I re-joined a few weeks ago and so far it has been going well. I go to the meetings on Monday nights because I feel it keeps me on track during the weekend.I think it is a really easy program to follow.
Good Luck to everyone
