Weight Watchers...again

Original post by Thrilled

Just ignore if you don't want to read this...
I have tried and failed WW now 6 times. I checked my bank balance yesterday and saw that WW had put through the online service (which I had approved and asked them for etc) and I took it as a sign to go ahead and give it one last go. ON top of that Fergie was on Larry King Live last night and she looks friggin fabulous...another sign.

So I need lots of support!!! Let's hang in there together. I'm getting married 9-6-03, so the way I figure it, I have about 34 weeks or so to lose 25-40 lbs, which can be done! HELP ME GIRLS!

Didn't initially read the jar post, but it's an awesome idea! Maybe buy some honeymoon clothes....a new bathing suit, some new shorts, a beautiful slinky black dress for that candlelight dinner on your honeymoon....

Jodi - we'll give you all the help you need!!! I know how you feel about the dress being tight...when my FAVORITE jeans were getting tight enough that sitting down in them was painful.....that was my motivation!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And don't forget that mustard, ketchup and all types of vinegar are free!!! Zero points! So think twice before using mayo on your sandwiches! I prefer my sandwiches dry, but sometimes will use mustard....soy sauce is really low too....

I love the fact that most of the condiments are 0 points!!!!
I don't like mustard, but ketchup sure works for me sometimes....
What about soy sauce? Is that not bad?

Re: Weight Watchers...again

I wouldn't be able to spend all day counting like this.

I do what Theresa (Ronnie&Theresa) does:
I'm VERY careful with carbs, I drink a gallon of water a day, lean protein only and I do at least 60 minutes of cardio 4 days a week. I eat starchy carbs 'maybe' once a week. My only other source of carbs if vegetables (either steamed or a little bit of olive oil) or wine (now and then)
I'm at the point in my planning where I forget to eat now, but normally I'd eat anywhere from 3-6 times a day (about 250-300 calories a meal)
It works, it's balanced and it's good for you. It's a bit boring, but I'm never hungry.
My only problem with WW (friend was on it) is that there's no balance. You can spend all day eating vegetables if you want or you could eat 3 slices of pizza and call it a day. That's probably why you'd end up feeling hungry.

On days I KNOW I'm going to cheat (like a night out) I'll go to the gym 2 hours before so that my body is in 'fat burning mode' and THIS

has been my screen saver since I started toning up to fit into my wedding gown. (Keeps me from playing around on these wedding boards all day long!)

Re: Weight Watchers...again

Good plan you have there susan. But even if I had that screen saver, I'd still be on the boards. I work in an office with a computer, it's hard not too. Plus I love it here. I'm not able to jump up from my desk and start doing crunches, people would just think I'm a little nuts.

Re: Weight Watchers...again

Wow! Thats amazing! You have great will power! Were you always on this diet/workout schedule or did you build yourself up to this?

Re: Weight Watchers...again

Susans -
that is great that you are able to do that, but unfortunately some of us need a little variety
I don't mind the counting and actually it keeps me in check....
I don't have time to eat 6 times a day and WW seems to be working great!

Good for you though....I wish I had your willpower

Re: Weight Watchers...again

I work out as well, but needed something to kickstart my metabolisim. I think I just was not eating enough, and my body was not burning the fat as efficently as it should.

So far, WW has enabled me to eat what and when I want, as long as I set boundries. I have found that as I go along, it gets easier to plan what I am going to eat, and I feel much more in control over my 'relationship' with food. Before, i would eat a snack, but not really enjoy it and feel really guilty afterwards. Now, I can save points and earn something that I really want, and enjoy it guilt-free (sort of-I am hoping to get rid of my food guilt)

Re: Weight Watchers...again

The diet thing started as Atkins and then the no carb/hi fat wrecked my body, so I switched to vegetables and lean protein (with the occasional potato or fries or chocolate cake on my bad days
)

It's my eating and my ****y metabolism that get me in trouble so that's what I'm most careful about nowadays. But 've always been a gym freak. I don't work so I have the luxury of picking and choosing when I want to go work out, but in college I used to go at 6am before my classes, when I worked at night until 8pm-4am, I used to go at 10am and when I worked 7:30-5:30 (hated that job) I used to go at 6:00.

I can't stress the cardio enough. FORCE yourself to do it. Even during my most hectic schedules it was always important enough to me to make the time. You'd be surprised how much FASTER you lose weight if you combo up a treadmill with the WW point system (or my system)

It's funny that you say that because my FH is a programmer and he's in front of a computer all day.
He's quit going to the gym alltogether, but he's convinced that the reason he has good abs is because 'when I sit at my desk, I lean forward a bit so I'm at kind of an angle, I keep my back straight and my stomach tight ALL DAY'

Weird thing is, I read somewhere that IF you WERE to go around holding your stomach muscles tight ALL DAY (A LOT HARDER than it sounds. I tried it and lasted about 25 minutes) it's supposed to be the equivalent of something in the range of 500-800 crunches
So you actually DON'T have to drop to the floor to do your abs at the office

Re: Weight Watchers...again

I have been working my upper body, as I am determined not to create a wind w. the flapping of my arms when I wave in my strapless dress I have found that working out my shoulders, and back have helped my posture as well. I have terrible posture, always was a sloucher (comes from being the tallest kid in the class from 3rd grade on). I think this is helping the stomach too, keeping it tight to keep my back straight.
