Well, I called.....my original hall won't refund my deposit

man, why do they have to be so mean! They have almost a year to re-book, and won't even give me a protion back if they re-book. Lucky them, I am out the money I could have put towards something else and they get it for doing nothing.

Re: Well, I called.....my original hall won't refund my deposit

no, I was aking if anyone knew our rights. the contract said non-refundable, I guess we were hoping if they re-booked we'd get at least something back. It really stinks that during this time of major budgeting and saving that they can't refund us something.

Re: Well, I called.....my original hall won't refund my deposit

What was the hall? Was it the Watermill? I believe enough push will get you the money back. Alot of these halls do not really want bad postings.

Re: Well, I called.....my original hall won't refund my deposit

NO NO NO....Watermill is my new hall! They have been great! it's my old hall, that was too large for the number of guests we are deciding to invite. That is why we changed to watermill (lower minimum)

I agree with Jill...if you put up enough of a fight...they should give you back something.

Re: Well, I called.....my original hall won't refund my deposit

Is this hall in Suffolk County? If it is there's a law that says they are only intitled to $200 of your deposit(I think, could be less, I can find out for you)if they have ample time to rebook(which Suffolk County defines as 6 months I believe). I took a hall to small claims court(which you do yourself for like a $25 fee) & I won & got my total deposit back! FMme if you want more info(I know my mom had a copy of the law).

Re: Well, I called.....my original hall won't refund my deposit

Hey Jenny, which hall are you talking about? I think it would only help you out even more as well as future brides to give us the name. This way we could all protect ourselves. Especially if someone on the site is having problems there as well

Re: Well, I called.....my original hall won't refund my deposit

I've mentioned it before...Stewart Manor Country Club, is the original hall. They have done nothing wronge, no bashing, I still like them, but they don't fit our needs in size (they have 100 minimum).

I have heard nothing but great things with their service and cocktail hour, etc.....I just want my deposit back

Re: Well, I called.....my original hall won't refund my deposit

Ohhhhhh....OK.....I'm new to the site, so I probably missed it. But I would honestly still pursue it. I cna't fathom why a hall would not want to refund the money. It's not like they can't fill the date.
I wish you luck...if anything, mention that you'll let alot of brides know about it on an online weddings site...perhaps that will help.
