Went to the church- I'M PISSED

We went to the church, It is very pretty and the pastor is very nice.
The only problem is that the latest time that they offer is 3pm. The reception starts at 6pm. We didn't complain about it, after all we were refered by someone else. So on the way home we discussed in the car that by the time the service would be over it would be 4, and when everyone mingled and hugged and kissed it would be about 415-430. Then the guests would drive to the hall it will be almost 5. Our problem is that CH starts at 6. The hall says the earliest is 530 maybe they will be able to do something.But my problem is, when we got to the FIL all of a sudden FH is going to say, well maybe we can look for another church. WTF??????? He didn't say that before. He knows exactly how long it took us to find one in the first place. I told him that if he wants to then that's on him.
I didn't like the way he flipped the script as soon as he got infront of his parents. HE is such a MOMMA'S BOY.
Should I change the church,or is there something I can do to bridge the gap?

honestly I think that time frame is perfect!!! my church is at 5 and receptions starts at 8 and I feel it is not enough time... don't forget people are going to mingle at the church , people may get lost, anything can happen in 2 hours I think it is fine... JMO..

You'll be busy taking pictures during the gap. Your guests shouldn't be too inconvenienced. That is a really decent gap. I was at a wedding in November where the gap was almost 3 hours and in another county.

I've been to weddings where someone who lives close to either the church or hall has everyone over for an informal gathering during the gap...usually cheese and crackers, soda, etc.

I was thinking about being late but they have confession at 4. I will ask them if it would be a problem.

my wedding was at the church at 4pm and cocktail hour at 7pm and it worked out great!

I think it's fine. A lot of weddings, I have been to have been like that. You shoud be fine .IMO

My church is at 230 and CH starts at 7.

Our wedding is at 3 pm and the cocktail hour is starting at 6:30 pm....we are opening our apartment to those not in the wedding party or family with wine,cheese and crackers, so they have something to do in the interim. I understand how you feel, but at the same time most weddings have that gap nowadays for the pics so don't worry too much. We are doing the wine and cheese thing cuz I always feel bad for people who have to try and amuse themselves for that two hour period.

IMO...time frame is perfect. Def allows enough time in between for you to get the extra pics that you need. This way you can enjoy the full CH and reception without being taken out for pics.

i think your timing is perfect. we had a 1:30 ceremony and cocktail hour at 6. we had plenty of time for pics in between and we didn't have to miss one second of our reception.

Dont worry about it! People will find things to do, or you can have an informal coffee hour either at the church or at someones house for people who dont really know how to pass the time. Tell your honey your not changing the church it will be fine! (I hate when they 'change the script' too).

I think the time frame is perfect..my ceremony was at 3:30pm and my cocktail started at 6:30pm.

These are the same as my times and I love the times so we can take pics in between. The guests will be fine.

I honestly think you timing is fine. But this is what I am doing. My Church starts at 3:15. It is a full mass. So figure 4:15. Then receiving line and mingling 4:30-4:45. We are then going to take pictures because we want to attend our cocktail hour so a relative is hosting an informal gathering at her house which is near the Church. Guests can go there, to the hotel, or wander around. Our cocktail hour starts at 6:30.

My mass is at 3PM and I pushed back the cocktail hour until 7:30PM. I wanted enough time in between to take pictures and not miss any of the cocktail hour. A family friend has offered to host something in between. If most of the people live around the church, they could go home and relax. I think your timing is perfect.

The gap is fine. Don't change the church. This gives you plenty of time for pics. I have an even larger gap. Don't worry about the guests, they'll take care of themselves... I'm sure they've been to a wedding with a gap before, it really is not uncommon.
