Were you in on your engagment?

Did you go shopping for the ring? Did he surprise you? How did you feel knowing you were getting engaged?

we had talked about it so I knew it was happeining within a 3 month timeline, but I was convinced that it was absolutely NOT happening while we were on vacation last spring and that is EXACTLY when he proposed!

I was not in on it as far as the ring shopping was concerned. I was pretty sure it was going to happen, but I had no idea when until it got closer. By the week that it happened, I knew it was coming sometime that week. I didn't want to know anything about it and be completely surprised but he dropped way too many hints!

Re: Were you in on your engagment?

He took me shopping for the ring in September. I found exactly what I wanted and he tried to hide the fact that he was putting a deposit on it. He told me we'd get engaged sometime before FH's birthday (june) but he surprised me with it on our last night at Disney World on January 10.

We'd been talking about it for so long, we both knew it would happen sooner or later. I suspected he'd propose at Disney, but when he didn't do it right away, I thought maybe he wasn't. He even told me before we left 'I'm sorry, I wanted to propose to you at Disney, but I can;t really afford it'...

So it was a nice surprise... I cant imagine being left in the dark. We talk about our future so much we both knew it was going to happen. And my ring looked so perfect all made up (I picked diamond and setting separately) that it was still a beautiful surprise to see it.

We had gone seriously looking at rings 2 times, but after that I told him what I liked and that's about it... his family friend is a jewler and he wanted me to go meet with him, but i trusted him... he actually picked out the ring on the day of the blackout he walked out of the building in the city and the lights had just gone out.. my mom said it was a sign, but i think it's a good sign, because just a couple of mins. or secs. earlier and he would have been stuck in the elevator, but I had no clue he had gone that day, he said he went out after work. Anyway, he asked my parents permission and my parents were so excited! My dad told him that he wouldn't be able to keep this secret from me, so my parents kinda slipped, but FH didn't know this. He told them it wouldn't be for a while, but he meant the wedding... then the next weekend while we were away, he asked me. I didn't think it would happen then because he said he wouldn't do it when we were away because I would expect it.. but then when we were walking towards the pier, he kept tripping and he was jumbling his words.. it was cute!

I never looked at a ring- and I had no idea the proposal was coming. I thought I was on the 10 year plan. It turned out to be the 3 year plan instead!

No - I wanted to be completely suprised. We talked about it and I told him that I wanted a princess cut and thats it! He had it in the house for 4 months before he proposed.

I had no idea. I wanted it to be a suprise. He did a great job on his own

I think all women know when it is coming. I gave and idea on the ring and set him free, had no idea about anything else. He did a fabulous job

I had no idea, either ... we were living together and always talked about marriage, but I though it might be further down the road from his perspective..

He had a rough idea what kind of ring I liked, but otherwise every step of it was a complete surprise! I still don't know how he pulled it off!!

I knew it would happen eventually, but I definitely did not in a million years think it would happen the day it did.

He picked out the ring all on his own, which he is very proud of!

We had talked about it. We went ring shopping together. I basically pointed out the style ring I liked and told him what stones were good. In the end, he went to purchase on his own. I didn't know he had and when the big day came, I was surprised, even though I knew we would get Engaged. It was great!

We had talked about it but he made it seem like it would be 'next year' b/c $ was so tight for both of us, etc... Then he proposed on our 5 year dating anniversary!

He had always joked he was going to ask me on our 1 year anniversary. I never thought he was serious, and when our anniversary hit, he proposed! I never helped pick out a ring, or anything. He did all the work himself!

We went ring shopping 2x so he could see what I liked. That was months before he officially popped the question. How, when and where I could have never guessed and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
