Did you go shopping for the ring? Did he surprise you? How did you feel knowing you were getting engaged?

I would have liked it to be a surprise but I knew it was coming, we had been living together 2 1/2 years and we know each others every move so there is no way for a surprise, and I picked out the ring, but he did get down on one knee( I didnt know he had picked it out) We always talked about the wedding but didnt have the money for the ring( I wanted to pay it off in full..no payments or anything) He ended up winning a lot of Money on a scratch off ticket believe it or not and i knew the ring would come now!

It was supposed to be a suprise, but one day when I was looking for paperclips, I came across a brochure for engagement rings, and a business card attached describing the exact ring... he proposed a week later! And even though I knew, I was STILL shocked, and continue to be for the last 6 weeks!

I didn't have a clue until about 10 mins before. He asked me at the beach in the middle of Dec. ! As we were driving there I sorta had a clue. But shhhhhhh don't tell him he thinks I didn't know at all.

i helped pick it out, i knew when he had it in his possession, and i helped arrange for him to ask my parents for permission to marry me.....but he surprised me with the actual proposal!

Nope, I had no clue. I had actually said months or even a year before what kind of ring I wanted, so he would know because we had talked about marriage. The ring I got is actually his mother's engagement ring, and it's the exact kind of ring I wanted. Round solitaire diamond on a platinum or white gold band (not sure which it is).
Everyone in my family and his family knew he was going to be proposing when we were in Hawaii. We were actually at his parents' block party a few weeks before we went to Hawaii, and some of my family was there, and I saw his mom keep having my family and other people come into the house, saying she had to show them something, but I didn't think anything of it.

We shopped for ring styles, so he had an idea of what I wanted, and he picked out the perfect ring! I thought he would give it to me on Thanksgiving or Christmas, but he surpirsed me by choosing an ordinary Monday night to propose!

We talked about our future together and one day he took me out shopping just to see what I liked. The only thing I was adamant about was wanting a sapphire instead of a diamond. I had no idea when we were getting engaged so that was a surprise.

We went ring browsing over a year before he proposed. he knew what style i liked from that, but the rest he did himself. the ring is absolutely perfect for me. i kinda knew when he was going to propose, he dropped many hints, but i was still in such awe and shock when he did that i was just screaming my head off!!!

Not at ALL!! I knew it was coming but I thought not until I graduated in June. He suprised me 8 months earlier--the day after our 7 year ann. with his grandmother's e-ring which I LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!

I new that we would be getting engaged. I didn't go ring shopping with him, but I did drop some not so subtle hints about what I liked.
As for the proposal, he couldn't have suprised me more. He did it 3 minutes after midnight on December 26, 2003 right before we went up to bed at my parents house. I had it in my head that Christmas WASN'T the day. The whole thing is a blur. I just remember concentrating on saying 'yes' when it was the right time.

We had gone ring shopping a few times so he had a pretty good idea what I wanted. He led to me believe it was happening later in the year than it did. He took me to the city and proposed in a hotel room on our 3 year anniversary. He said he was too excited to wait for dinner :) Then he took me to see 'Moving Out'. It was an amazing weekend

Um, I looked at the ring in the store and said, 'I want that, buy it!' And he went back and did just that. I'm a spoiled brat, ain't it great?
didn't know a thing, thought he really couldn't afford to do it, totally shocked.

I was totally surprised...I didn't expect it for about another 6 months and had nothing to do with the ring shopping. He had ideas about what I liked though.
