Yes! That is why we are taking pictures before the ceremony. And we are still going to be announced

We will be there - we do not want to miss a minute of our reception!
Also, it gives you time to mingle a little before so you have less table to table time during the actual reception.

i was there for most of my cocktail hour.... husband and i spent some time alone in the bridal suite just talking before the night began... then we went to say our hellos at the cocktail hour so we didnt have to spend the whole time doing that at the reception! we are so glad we did. i mean we went around to say hi again but it didnt take as long...
ETA we also took our pictures before the cocktail hour!

we wanted to be there and we got to see about 10 minutes of it, but then i was getting my dress bustled and then we were taking pictures...and by the time we knew it, the cocktail hour was over and we hadn't gotten to eat any of the delicious food we chose! DH gets mad every time we watch the video when they pan over the food becasue he was really excited about some of it! And, we took pictures before the ceremony as well....I guess it's just the way it all worked out. But I will say that the pictures that were taken during the cocktail hour were amazing, so it was definitely worth it!

i will defintely be at my cocktail hour. it is my favorite part of any wedding that i go to. i'll still make my 'entrance' the same way, but with 225 people i don't want to spend the entire reception greeting people. i can do a lot of that at the cocktail hour.
I feel the same way. Maybe we will miss a few minutes to take some pics with the extended family, but we plan to be there.

I wanted to come out but I want my entrance/intro to be my ENTRANCE. Know what I mean? Plus, I am going to be taking pics. I have decided that my entire BP can go out and the groom if he wants to, but I just don't want to. Some say it is so much better because you get to see everyone then and not waste time during the reception. But, I am not. Hope this helps!
Maybe we'll also let the BP go out during CH (though we'll have all the ameneties in our bridal suite that the CH would have), and me & FH will wait, for the grand entrance.
Same here, we also see at as an opportunity to get a little alone time, we'll send the BP down to CH.
Re: were you or are you going to be in your cocktail hour????
I think we are going to have plenty of time between the ceremony and CH for pics so we will be at the CH and still be announced before the reception too. I want it all!

I would like to go to the CH but I dont think we will have enough time. Ceremony at 5 in farmingdale and reception at 8, but reception is >1 hour away from church

Re: were you or are you going to be in your cocktail hour????
We will be there for some of the middle of the CH. I definitely want to be there for some of it for two reasons:
1. I'm paying for it 2. It'll allow us to greet alot of guests and get that out of the way early, leaving more time for partying
Then, we will dissappear during the last 15 mins or so of the CH so the people who get there late (most of my family) won't see us anyway until our big entrance.

We went to ours and it was great! We greeted all of our guests and had so much fun. This left more time for partying at the reception!
I agree - you're paying for the CH food and the party - you should be able to enjoy it to the fullest! I'm going to.

Re: were you or are you going to be in your cocktail hour????
We made it to the ch which I am very happy about. We were able to talk to pretty much everyone there and then able to enjoy the reception without worrying about not seeing our guests. Even doing that the reception went to fast!
