Hi all! It was so nice to meet you ladies and see some old faces. I spoke to Lorena from WM and asked her point blank about the Red Velvet cake. She said that Egra Bakery does not do real red velvet cake. They use vanilla sponge cake and dye it red, because of this an upgrade to 'red velvet' is actually free.

I have to agree that the cakes were very dry. But, I like the idea of getting a sheet cake to slice up instead. Might be the way to go.

It was nice to meet you too. I agree the cakes are very dry and just bland tasting! My sister and I went to the actual bakery back in May and she hated it! We both agreed that it was not a great bakery at all!

FH and I didn't think the cake was too bad. We had the chocolate and put the white chocolate mousse filling on it and we enjoyed it. I honestly don't think many people eat the cake anyway. It's the end of the night, people want to get their last dances in and we get that extra desert as well. We also added on the candy buffet last night (which they give you printed bags for the guests to take the candy home) so I'm not worried.

I'm actually doing my own candy buffet. Since the theme of my wedding is chocolate I want more chocolates than candy.

This is what Felicia told me to do

she told me to do the chocolate cake with the white chocolate mousse - which seems to be the only decent cake and than get a red velvet sheet cake

I agree..I care more about the food but doing the switcharoo is great idea!

I personally don't care but I can understand why it's important!

Re: Westbury Manor THREAD!!!!

Maybe I am nuts...but I didnt think the cake was so bad. I do not think that that many people pay attention to cake either, so I cant see the point of spending extra money on the cake. Even though I could eat cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner, not everyone feels the same as me.
I rather spend my money on other upgrades..I feel between the cake and the dessert platter thing they include, that will be enough dessert for most people. Just my opinion....
If you have the money to spare and can splurge on your dream cake...go for it!!

i agree with you. i didn't think the cake was that bad. it was better than the wedding cake my cousin had ( i actually spit that cake out).

i'm not a cake person, so i'm just going to get the cake from WM. i see no point in spending money for cake people won't eat, especially since we get other desserts

I agree. FH and I liked the chocolate cake with the white chocolate mousse filling. I'm not stressing over this, I don't think it's worth it.

fh and I agreed that the chocolate cake was the best of the 3 by far. I refuse to pay more for a cake and there is soooo much other food I am not worried. we decided on chocolate cake with strawberries and the baileys cream. Figured it was something different
