Do you think that you have the type of relationship with your future inlaws to call them mom and dad?
What do you and fh call each others parents?
It is 'Mom and 'Dad' for me.

My own mother would FREAK if I called them mom and dad so I call them by their first names.

let's see... right now I call them by their names but I def. will call his parents mom and dad. I practically live at their house- once a week I go over with FH to see them! But, I spoke with FH and he says it will be hard to call my mother mom.... maybe eventually. He is very close and protective of his parents and according to him, no one else can be called mom. I used to care, but now... I figure that's fine. Whatever's comfortable....

Right now it's their first names, but I will call them Mom and Dad from our wedding day on..... I am very lucky - she calls me the 'best future daughter-in-law in the world'. LOL!
For him, he calls them by their first names, but I don't know if that will change. I hope it does - it's much warmer. But we'll see whatever he feels most comfortable with...

Did anyone see the episode of Everyone Loves Raymond about this? So funny! Anyway, I call his Father by his first name- and since we started dating I have a nickname for his Mom which I've been calling her for almost 6 years now... Mrs. Bee (don't ask- kinda cute, kinda corney)

Right now I call them by their first names olny if I have to. Since we have been engaged I have been calling them Mom and Dad

MV, I think that's cute. My FH calls my Dad Mr.D
I call FH's mom by her first name or E.P. (her initials) I don't think I can ever bring myslef to call her Mom (my Mom is decd now) Luckily she likes it when I call her E.P.

Right now- honestly I really try hard not to call them anything. I try to make it a point to not need too cause I feel so weird . When I must, it's usually still Mr & Mrs ---- (how dorky is that after 8 years?) FI says he is sure his mom would love for me to call her mom - at first when we got engaged, I had pretty much planned too, then, after my mom passed away, I felt like I just couldn't -then I figured, my mom always called her MIL Mom (she had also lost her mother early) so I don't think she'd be upset. But it just feels weird - to start it, you know? I keep meaning to discuss it with his mom, but just don't know when to bring it up.

Actually this has been bothering me for quite a while. My FI's mother is Korean and my FI insist that I call his mother Mrs. whatever. That's what I call her now but it seems extremely formal for someone who I actually have a really good relationship with. My FI says that culturally speaking it would be rude for me to call her by her first name even after the wedding. He also calls my parents Mr and Mrs and plans to continue even after the wedding. He is uncomfortable being so informal w/my parents. This really bothers me, but it doesn't look like I can do anything about it

OneDay I am the same!! I try not to say anything. I know that's probably not good but I feel funny calling them Mom/Dad..I know they don't care if I use their first names but I feel wierd saying that to.

I haven't really thought about this. I still call them Mr. and Mrs. but my FH calls my mom, Mom and my dad Mr. He's afraid of him. LOL!! I think I will eventually call them mom and dad.

I could never call anyone but my Mom and Dad 'Mom and Dad'. I would never feel comfortable. I call them by their first names.

i call fh's parents by their first names & he does the same... i don't think i could ever call his parents mom & dad even though i get along with them great...i don't think my parents would really like it either...
