Re: What are your thoughts on

The wealthiest Americans pay the most taxes, that's why their taxes are cut the most. The poorest Americans don't even pay taxes. Kerry has voted to cut military spending. I don't believe that he will go after terrorists like Bush will.

Does anyone else find it ironic that he's using these images that have special meaning to all New Yorkers and yet most political analylists don't expect him to win NY.

Anyone else see this as half-*ssed.

I haven't seen the ads, so I don't really know if they would bother me, but I also thought about the fact that the people who will be bothered by them are predominantly New Yorks, a state that Bush does not have a chance at winning. So why should he care if New Yorkers are offended.

I do think, though, that he is trying to scare people into thinking that if he is not re-elected 9/11 will happen all over again. There was a Senator (whose name escapes me) who was quoted as saying that a vote for Kerry is a vote for Osama Bin Laden. If Bush were to take that kind of approach, it would bother me. After all, 9/11 didn't happen during the presidency of a Democrat and there is no reason to believe that we would be besiged by terrorist attacks if a Republican was to leave office.

How about eliminating the Taliban in Afghanistan? How dare you say those men and women in the Middle East are not protecting you and your freedom to live your 'everyday life'.

I can see how you could misunderstand. My point is that I would rather have those men and women at home with their families instead of fighting a war in Iraq that is unjust.
I also don't believe that the Taliban has been completely eliminated.

I don't see the war as unjust, but that's okay, you are entitled to your opinion. But if our soldiers are at home, how can we eliminate the Taliban completely?

I think if you see the ad you will think differently. I saw it, and I did not feel that it was trying to scare me into anything. The ad mentioned other issues as well. It wasn't all about 9/11.

Yes the Richest do pay the most taxes, but the pay less of a PROPORTION of their taxes to their income..
Which means, in proportion to YOUR income, you pay MORE taxes than the Rich people.

Not to mention- becaus there is a defecit, bush is using the social security surpluses to 'pay' for the tax cut for the Rich- so services used by the middle class are suffering b/c the rich are getting their taxes cut (not only income, but all taxes associated with taxes - capital gains- and inheritance)

Look- the bottom line is- to make the economy better you need to increase demand for goods- to increase demand, you have to give people money to spend- and the people who will spend it are the middle class.

You don't want to believe me, don't- but do some research, do some studying on micro and macro economic principles and Keynes income multiplier and you'l see- it isn't a partisan issue- it's just the facts.

In response to the original post, I think Bush is targeting those that already support his war efforts, he is aiming his ads towards families of 9/11, many of whom support the war in Iraq and voted for Bush in 2000. Sept 11th should never be forgotten, and I don't think anyone wants it to be forgotten either.

Just wondering if the reactions would be different if he showed images of soldiers that are serving in Iraq, this may also be considered exploitive and disturbing.

I am waiting for the debates, those are the best ways to really see each candidate and compare their stances on major issues.

As for campaign commercials, I hate them all (and I worked in advertising for years). They are all a bunch of propoganda BS. Its scary anyone would base their vote on those. Bush may want to tug on the heartstrings, but I am sure Kerry wont pull any punches either.

People who are unhappy with him are just looking for things to call him out on...

at this point i am behind 'whatever it takes' to get him out of the office...

good thing people have finally woken up, scary thing is that it's only because the economy is such a mess...

But most Americans are middle class...why are we stuck paying for everyone?

you are absolutely right...no 2 men will ever go about something the same way...and depending on which strategy you think is best - should be a factor on who you vote for...

Re: What are your thoughts on

By the way- John Kerry's voting record regarding Homeland Security-

Voted YES on adopting the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. (Oct 1999)
* Voted YES on allowing another round of military base closures. (May 1999)
* Voted NO on cutting nuclear weapons below START levels. (May 1999)
* Voted YES on deploying National Missile Defense ASAP. (Mar 1999)
* Voted YES on military pay raise of 4.8%. (Feb 1999)
* Voted NO on deploying missile defense as soon as possible. (Sep 1998)
* Voted NO on prohibiting same-sex basic training. (Jun 1998)
* Voted NO on favoring 36 vetoed military projects. (Oct 1997)
* Voted YES on banning chemical weapons. (Apr 1997)
* Voted NO on considering deploying NMD, and amending ABM Treaty. (Jun 1996)
* Voted NO on 1996 Defense Appropriations. (Sep 1995)

So how is he anti- military?

edited to add- any votes against the military in any way were certainly BEFORE Sept 11... so what does that have to do w. anything? He voted for our involvement in Iraq as well...

I didn't say anything about the war in Afganastan being unjust. I specifically referred to Iraq.

Re: What are your thoughts on

In his ads he is using pictures showing the strength of americans he is not using bodies or grave sites. Also like Ciminok said maybe the job market is so bad is because of the fact that we are buying things mad e in CHINA JAPAN Guatemala , why don't we as consumers focus on keeping Americans employed rather then but these products from these other countries. Or how about the fact that these maniacs are in our country and taking our money and using it against us , I think Bush's efforts are commendable, honrable and down right Heroic. I am sorry you are upset the taxes etc but I look it as these ar my dues that I pay to live free.

Also To say Iraq and Afghanistan are not the same I personally think that is dilusional they both hate us there has been links with one another. No Iraq did not directly order the planes down but do you think they were sad about it know they cheered and burned our flag that is definitely the people I care about LOL

I agree with you. This is a HUGE problem. The problem is that so many American businesses are sending our work overseas to factories in other countries, rather than keeping those jobs and products in our country.

I believe (and I think Sassy is much more informed on this subject than I am) that part of Bush's tax reform gives breaks to companies that are sending work overseas.

This has been a very huge problem in my own personal world...Do you know how guilty I feel about having bought a wedding dress that is marked: 'MADE IN CHINA' ??? That's a huge No-No in my world...However, good luck finding nice clothes MADE IN USA...I'm sad now...
