Right now I have my bedroom painted a dark green. Im just bored with it now after 5 years so I want to change it in the spring. But I put these velvet drapes up in place of closet doors and I dont want to replace those. What color do you think would work with them?
Not a great photo but here they are on my closet.
I have medium colored wood floors and light pine furniture.

My floors are a medium colored parquet. You can see it in the photo of the closet above.
Love the plum with the white trim but I dont have any moulding so I think it will be too dark. Not that Im opposed to dark but if I were to go such a rich color, I might want to do a contrast color on 1 or 2 walls with a lighter shade.

I was LMAO when you said 'maybe he wont even notice' sometimes things are better left unsaid, so they dont whine about it
I love the yellow to brighten it up. All the darker colors I think will still have that deep-winter-colors feeling...
Do you love the drapes more than what you care about the wall color? which is priority or means more to you? If the walls are more (I would think so, since its easier to buy new drapes than to repaint ) just choose a color for the walls that you truly love, and then decide if you will keep them or change them.

Im not really a yellow person. Pastels are not my style. Although I would really dig a pink bedroom but I dont think hubby would alllow that (he would definitely notice - hahah)
I dont have any colors that I must have. I just want a change.

I think you can make yellow look rich, what about that combo orangey-yellowish color that I Was talking about yesterday (marcella had a photo in one of her posts). that would look nice with those drapes, (the cheesecake factory has their walls colored that color, and their medium wood accents all over the restaurant look GORGEOUS with the color, and the sponge-rag effect gives it texture and warmth

I'm confused....the second set of drapes you posted look like the same color to me?
I definitely think that any shade of gold/yellow will be too monochromatic with the drapes. A plum/wine/cranberry seems to have more of a contrast, which is what you said you wanted. However, I like the cocoa color someone else posted w/the drapes too (I know you don't), and the spiced pumpkin color sounds really nice, and has more contrast than the cocoa.
Good luck whatever you decide! If it's easier to buy new drapes, than just do it, and save yourself the trouble!

It's actually funny you say that....I was going to suggest pink, but thought everyone would think I was crazy! lol!! I think a light dusty pink would look amazing in a bedroom!

Anna: I love the cheesecake factory yellow but I dont think its right for a bedroom. Its too 'alive' for me. Im not explaining myself correctly but i hope it makes sense.
Claud: Hahha..they do look the same color on screen but one is more of a natural beige neutral and the other (the one I have) is more of a orangy gold. I dont know why im thinking in dog colors but I would say the natural one is the color of a Yellow Lab and the gold is that of a GOlden Retriever.
Ive never considered orange but a burnt color scheme sounds interesting. I will have to look at some chips for that. It might be really nice and different.
I would love a room of all pinks - but the hubby will not sleep on flower or in pink rooms. hahhaha

Really, too alive? wow, I thought I was bad with not liking light/alive colors I thought it had a nice warm relaxing feeling, almost like the color of a fire burning up
Now im talking myself back into that color

That's really a tough one.
If it were me, I would put the drapes away and just re-do the whole room. You don't have to get rid of the drapes, just store them someplace. You can always use them again later, or put them in a different room.
Stef I saw some pillows in Marshalls and thought of your situation...they were red (deep) royal blue and gold...I would never have thought of the combo...but it looked great on the pillows!!!
