the place I'm looking at offered a chocolate fountain! I thought that was a joke! am I being unrealistic in expecting something more since they won't take money off?

our RH was not able to take $$ off but since FH was in the Military he threw in chocolate fountain, ice sculpture (which I could really care less about but people will think we were fancy enough to pay for one LOL) and a champagne tree which I saw and fell in LOVE with. We also got a full Viennese table for having it in January (they do this for all Jan weddings)

My hall threw in wine on each table and a pasta course. We are also having passed martini's during cocktail hour but I think that is normal for them.

That's so funny because my place threw in a dessert tray of italian cookies and I was wondering how to get the chocolate fountain! I'm not complaining though. I think most of my family will prefer the dessert trays. That was the only thing my RH 'threw in' and it was an incentive to get us to book b/c they only included it if we booked within 2 weeks of touring the place. IMO, I'm getting a ton of food options at CH (35 passed hors d'oeuvres + 4 stations) and during the reception (7 dinner options with guests being allowed to go back for seconds), so I don't feel like I need anything else thrown in. I noticed that some people's 'extras' were things my RH already included.
ok that's an insane amount of food! lol I def don't get that much!
lol...my venue is known for it's crazy CH. I'm a foodie so I was really looking for that when I was venue shopping

My venue took a little money off for having our ceremony there, like $100 I think. Also, I wanted an ice cream sundae bar and I asked how much they would charge me if I brought my own ice cream in (strange, I know) and they are charging me $2 pp instead of $4, which is actually a big savings!
When I booked I asked for everything, I figured it couldn't hurt, all they can say is no!

I think it is unrealistic to EXPECT that they will throw in something. If they do, it's nice, but you can't go in expecting it or you will be disappointed.
this. i didn't get anything extra.

My dad likes to argue his way into getting alot of freebies/less money for things lol.. we wanted the raw seafood bar and they wanted $16 per person. we cut out some things and got them to about half of that, along with getting large italian pastry displays on each table for the guests. We also got them to add an extra entree option because my dad wanted a duck option in addition to the chicken, beef, fish and vegetarian options they already offered. We also got them to offer another tier to our cake and a different flavor cake/filling than what they usually offer for I think like $25.

I got....unlimited wine bottles being put constantly on the tables throughout the night, an ice sculpture, an espresso/cappuccino/coffee station, ice cream bar and a chocolate fountain.
We got the unlim. wine on the tables and the coffee station at our venue included in the regular pricing :) The ice sculpture and chocolate fountain sound nice though!

I feel like the minority but I was given the price & then I said I would book but other things were important to me. With that being said- we have passed martini's at cocktail hour, an extra food cocktail station, a raw clam & oyster bar, an added pasta course, cookie/pastry trays on table & they took $50 off the price of the roast pig for CH. I love to negotiate BUT I also was ok with the price they gave me & it was easier for them to add stuff then to lower the cost I'm sure.

This. Most places I saw were willing to add stations, or do modified versions of stations we wanted without adding all of the $$ they usually do. None of the places I went to would deduct from their original per plate price. The ONLY time I heard of anyone getting $$ taken off the per plate price was from my cousin. She booked at the woodlands and they offered to pay cash and got a really good price. But i wouldn't feel comfortable paying cash for something that big- seems a little risky to me

I was told the same thing by Fox Hollow about the ice scuplture and wine bottles on the table.. until I realized it's really all included and they offer that to everyone, they just tell you that it's 'complementary'

I didn't expect my RH to throw in anything. I am paying a reasonable price for what they are giving me, I made a few requests, all with additional $$.

I got 1 cold station thrown in but I think that's because we added on a whole bunch of stuff at full price.....we seriously have like $30pp in add ons and my mom still wants to add more. It's probably a thank you for paying so much pp!!!

I agree with this. Most of the places I went to were willing to customize CH stations. The only time someone offered me a deduction in price was if I added more than 1 add on at CH. they offered to do the 2nd add on at half price. I ended up my booking that venue anyway. No one offered to lower the price per person unless I changed the season I was getting married in.

We got 6 mini desserts that are passed around by the waiters if we booked within the two weeks after we met with them the first time. We had our tasting on the last day of that two weeks, fell in love with the food (already loved the outside/inside/people) and booked that night. 17 days until my wedding at Thatched Cottage and I CANNOT WAIT!

know what I'm noticing the bigger places, fox hallow, Jericho Terrace, Thatche d cottage they give alot. I think mine is to small that and a friend of mine suggested bc they just did renovation maybe they don't have much room to stuff away. I think on the end no matter what happens I love the place so I want it but like I said in the past post i thought everyone got stuff free so I thought I was being had! lol
