What do you call your FILs??

I just found out that I will be calling my future ILs 'Mr. and Mrs. B' for the rest of my life, even after I become 'Mrs. B'! I'm sorry, but there's a time and a place for manners....I know these people so well, but they are so old-fashioned, so I have to play the 'Mr. and Mrs.' game for the rest of my lives. I find it a bit annoying - anyone else with me??

I call them Mom and Dad. I call my friend's parents mom and dad too..everyone is to me. DH calls my dad, dad sometimes and by his first name sometimes.

I call them Mom and Dad and Dh calls mine Mom and Dad but I can tell (it's only natural) he sometimes avoids calling them anything, because they aren't our moms and dads, and it's only natural to feel funny sometimes.

Johnsae....I think I missed it but did they ask you to call them Mr/Mrs?

Edited to say my mom is super cool and said 'Honey, call me Maggie or Mom or Mrs. or whatever makes you happy.'

Currently I call them by their first names, but FH's dad made a comment to me about after the wedding figuring out what to call him...

I call them by their first names.
They are not my parents. I could never call them mom and dad.

I'll never call them anything but by their first names. They don't even come CLOSE to being like my awesome parents!

I call my ILs as little as humanly possible. However, I address them by their first names. They never told me to do so, but they started signing cards with their names so I took that as the go ahead.

I somewhat hate to say it, but this, as rediculous as it is, is one of the lesser FIL problems I've heard of. I mean, it's stupid, but it could be something really rediculous like his mother wanting to wear a wedding dress to your wedding, or his father refusing to pay if you don't allow all of his third cousins twice removed to come.

OMG, I forgot to mention that they refer to each other as Mr. and Mrs. too!! Like Mrs. B will be talking about her husband and will say, 'Well, Mr. B just got back from the store....etc.'.......isn't this WEIRD>!>!>!

I don't think I could call FH's parents Mom and Dad. He jokes around with my parents and calls them Mom and Dad now. They don't seem to mind. My mom despises being called Mrs...so he just calls them by their first names. His parents on the other hand, I don't see as often and when I have to, I just call them by their first names. Otherwise, I don't call them anything.

I'll probably just continue to call them by their first names. FMIL requested that I call her by her first name years ago. I still feel really awkward doing it but it's better than the alternative. I cannot picture myself ever calling them mom and dad.

I'm in the same boat...FH has called my mother mom all along...FMIL still signs cards and refers to herself as 'Mrs S'...gimmee a break!! I choose to just nnot address her as anything...My FSIL and I feel the same way...it is disrespectul to us as ADULTS to have to call her Mrs!!!

My friend and I were talking about this last night. I think I'm going to avoid calling them anything unless I necessarily have to (that's what she's doing right now).

I don't think I'd be comfortable calling them mom or dad and I know I wouldn't be comfortable calling them by their first names after calling them Mr. and Mrs. for so long.


this is what I do- aviod calling them anything- or calling them at all

I do call them by there first name- not Mr and Mrs-

I cna't bring myself to call them Mom and Dad either- I don't feel it- to weird!

As soon as we got engaged both of our parents told us to call them by their first names. I doubt we will call our inlaws mom and dad.

DH and I both call each other parents mom and dad we both have great relationships with each other parents which makes it easier.

I call them by their first names. Although I was told after we are married I should call them mom and dad. I was like but you aren't my mom and dad. Would be so weird. Not really sure what I am going to do. I think I'll call them Mom and Dad in front of other people cause I think they would be more concerned with what other people thought.
