you send out your invitations and they are specifically addressed(inner and outer) to the couple but then receive the rsvp back and they are bringing their child..
i have nothing against children but we did not invite friends even our BP with their kids because then it would be way too $$$ and then not fair to others who have kids...
i guess i just have to accept it but i still find it rude to not even call before mailing to ask if kids are invited because generally they aren't..
dont get me wrong i love kids but now i feel like i have to tell others to bring their kids too!!!
sorry to vent..

Re: what do you do when
I would call them and explain that it is an adult only reception and that their will be no other children at the reception. This is okay to do because it is your wedding.

I would have your mom or his (depending on which side of the family it is) and explain it is adults only and you are limited with space at your reception site.

You don't have to accept it. I would call and pretend like it must have been a misunderstanding. Tell them 'hey, sorry for the mix up, but we aren't have children at the wedding, I just wanted to call and clarify which meals were for you and Uncle Bill.'

Wow, people are so presumptious. I would call them and explain that you didn't invite other children, and if their children come it might create a problem with those who left their kids at home.

you have to call them, plain and simple. children were not invited. you don't have to be mean, so to speak, just firm. good luck!
oh, and if you don't want to do it, can your mom?

if they say that, then they don't deserve to be there.

Re: what do you do when
I woudl definitely call them. In order to reach a compromise, perhaps you can hire a babysitter to stay at the hotels for the kids?!?!?

Re: what do you do when
I had the same problem!! FH aunt sent back her RSVP for 3 people, when we only invited her and her husband! How rude. When we asked her she said she couldnt find a babysitter. We are letting her bring her daughter but we are pissed!
I think it is totally up to you! If you think , as you get some no's, they can bring their kids, then let them. But there is nothing wrong with telling them they cannot bring their kids. These people are adults and know how to read an inviation! And it is so rude to not even pick up the phone and call you!

Re: what do you do when
this is one of my biggest fears about inviting people. I have to agree with everyone. Just say you're at capacity and have to limit it.

call them. Its rude to bring your child if they werent on the card.
People from this area should know that..
I have a friend flying up from Texas who mentioned shes bringing her son.. I have to tell her she can't
