what do you think of my song list for our CD's?

Ok, you might not like the actual songs I've picked.....but do you think they flow together? I'm just trying to figure out if there's one I should take out (or add) in case it just doesn't jive. We're doing two favors at the wedding, the glass love coasters, and CD's w/ one of our e-pics on it.

FH & I both like oldies, so we knew we'd pick quite a few of those, and he prefers songs like that instead of overly sappy ballad's. BTW, I LOVE reggae, so I had to add a little bit to the mix without giving any of the elderly members of my family a coronary! So Bob Marley and UB40 would have to do....and it's a bonus that you can understand what they're saying!

Here's the list (yes I know its long, it was originally ALOT longer!)

5. Tell him- The Exciters
6. And then he kissed me- The Crystals
7. I only have eyes for you- The Flamingo's
8. Stand by me- Ben E. King
9. When I'm 64- The Beatles
10. Maybe I'm amazed- Paul McCartney
11. Heaven - Bryan Adams
12. Make a memory- Bon Jovi (I had thought of 'I'll be there for you' which I ABSOLUTELY love, but it's a little bit of a break up song!)
13. You are the sunshine of my life- Stevie Wonder
14. It's not unusual- Tom Jones
15. Hooked on a feeling- Blue Suede (btw, this is FH's fav. song on the CD- he's all about the ooga shocka!
16. Could this be love- Bob Marley
17. The way you do the things you do- UB40
18. If you wanna be happy- Jimmy Soul (ok, this one is just plain funny!
19. Somewhere over the rainbow (50 First Dates version) I wanted to end it on a soft note!

-Doo wah ditty (this is the song that was playing when he proposed!- I might just have this played at the wedding).
-Saw her standing there- The Beatles
-Just the way you are- Billy Joel
-Crazy lil thing called love- Queen

I actually have a bunch more that I had on my list but I'm not including! BTW I'm a big Beatles fan, and I would've loved to use 'In my life' but that was my song w/ my ex.....and 'Two of us' is awesome, but I just wasn't sure if it jived with the CD.

Stand by Me (by Ben E. King) is one of my all time favorite songs!!! And Somewhere over the Rainbow by IZ (hawaiian version) is another.

Wow...that's a lot of songs! Your guests are so lucky! I've gotten cds with only 8 songs or 10 songs only. My fav. song is 'You are the sunshine of my life'-Stevie Wonder.

Long time ago I originally wanted CD favors...and it would tie into that Bon Jovi musical theme...of course it wouldn't just be Bon Jovi but it would be predominantly so, simply because so many of their songs tie into our relationship. So I figured, most people wouldn't appreciate a mostly Bon Jovi cd. Scrap that idea!

So now they have to listen to them every time we have a big event at the wedding!!

Thanks Tara!!! so......you think its better to stick with the new one by Bon Jovi rather than 'I'll be there for you' right? I don't know why I keep thinking about this.....it's one of my all time favorite songs......the problem is the verses are all about breaking up, but the chorus is super romantic....ugggh!!! I guess it's probably better to use the new one, and people might like getting a song they wouldn't have otherwise had (unless they already downloaded the new one)

Oh and I LOVE 'If I fell in love with you' by the Beatles, as romantic as that song is, it also mentions the previous relationship ('would love me more than her'....) so that's a no good! lol I also love 'PS I love you' but I'm not sure if it works with the CD....and it makes it sound like we're away from each other.......why oh why must I read into every choice I make?? Thanks for being my Beatles/Bon Jovi afficionado!

thanks Gabi!!! I'm so glad I asked you guys for input, b/c the only song that FH likes is 'hooked on a feeling' he told me his friends would throw this CD out the window!! I don't think they would, but it made me second guess my song choices. muchas gracias chica!

'I Will' from The White Album ('who knows how long I've loved you...' do you know that one?)
'Something' from Abbey Road
Paul was great at those love songs! And George definitely wrote a classic there!
Oh and don't forget 'In My Life' from Rubber Soul- by my fave Beatle, John.

I love 'If I Fell' but I agree- not totally appropriate!

Thanks Tara!!! yea I'll stick w/ 'make a memory'.....as for the Beatles tracks....love all your choices!!! 'I will' is a great song.....I don't know why I didn't think of it!! I LOVE 'Something'.....but for 2 reasons I didn't include- 1) it reminds me of my ex, and 2) the lyric 'you're asking me will my love grow- I don't knowwww, I don't know' that made me not want to use it (his *ss better know damn it!!! and you probably didn't see my comment in my original long winded post 'In my life' was my song w/ my ex (he used to play it on the guitar for me all the time)....while I still love the song, I just can't use it in any way shape or form in relation to us!! which really stinks, b/c it probably would be my all time favorite romantic song by the Beatles!!!

I would definitely listen to that CD. I think it's a great list.
