What do you think of this? (mini vent)

FSIL has the reputation for being quite difficult. Unfortunatley she is a BM. When we told her last year that we were not having small children at the wedding, she said she would not attend without her 3 year old. Fine, we gave in.
She and her husband has since split up.

Today, she asks me, since she will not be bringing a date for the wedding, could she bring a babysitter to watch her daughter at the wedding.
This is 5 minutes after she tells me she cannot afford to give us a gift, which, believe me, is more than fine, I totally understand her situation. But now we are expected to pay for a complete stranger, so she doesn't have to watch the child she refuses to come without?!

I said okay, just because I am in not mood to argue. But the more I think about it, the more I am like, 'WTF??'.

Does she have nerve, or am I just being a bridezilla?!

We booked Duet for Photo and Video and Rev. April G. for out officiant. We saw Meaghan at the Lovin' Oven Annual Vendor Showcase. What filling are you having for your cake? We loved the strawberry one. I met the guy from Island Boy. So we are probably going to book him for the steel drum while people are eating, to relax . An we love classic rock, so that's gonna be in there. Maybe some Ozzie Hehehehehe. Wanna grow your hair and bang with us? We'll get you some denim with holes of course. Rips optional. We are still looking at designs for the ice sculpture on the seafood buffet. A double happiness, dragon and phoenix, or tiger and dragon. SO MANY CHOICES. ( now I get to use the icon, it's so funny to watch )

I'm glad they were able to surprise you for your shower. It's a great idea. Thank them for thinking of it.

definately not.....
i was first thinking, ok if she brings a babysitter you wont have to worry about the kid running around, then i realized, you dont even want kids at the reception, so why accommodate it when you then need to pay for a stranger too...

the kid can stay at home with his father that night.. at a young age they will not miss the event much.

also if she wants to bring the kid with a babysitter, my guess is she probably wants to show off her kid to everyone to get some attention....
how can she afford to pay the babysitter but not give you a gift?

Hey Thomas - you got alot done! That's great!
Yeah, I'm not much of a headbanger, but thanks for the offer!
I met with Thomas from Audreys, and decided on yellow cake with rasberry and coeur la creme. ALthough the strawberry sounds good too!
We finalized our menu this weekend. It's so exciting Thomas, just wait! You and Cynthia are going to enjoy this so much! And if possible, I like Meaghn a little more every time I meet her. She's been awesome to work with, have no worries!

And yes, they read the boards!

Thanks for all your good advice guys. I think I'm going to let FH handle this one. He's going to tell her to just have the babysitter keep her at home. We made an exception to try to keep the peace, but now she's taking advantage.

Now let's see what other suprises she has in store for me.....

Glad to hear your FH is stepping up to the plate and is going to say something to her. I definitely agree that because it is his side of the family that he should be the one to say something to her!
