What do you think was the worst part of this wedding process so far??

Original post by neen

I have to admit the invitations and registry (yeah, can you believe it) was the worst so far. I say registering because my FH insisted that he come with me--oh boy what a mistake--I had to drag him around Fortunoff's to hear him say 'whatever you like honey.' He means well.....

Guest list and trying to cut it down.

The worst part so far has been trying to decide on a color for the BMs. I have put way too much thought into this!
I anticipate the seating arrangements to be even worse!

Worrying about coming up with the money. We were going to switch to a different hall, but I'm happy to say I went to Leonard's today and took some additional options I put for on the menu, and now the price isn't scary at all.

Also, arguing about how many people to invite. He wants to invite so many people, and I think we will be inviting around 150 people. As opposed to the small wedding I thought we were switching to, but that isn't happening anymore either.

Too many things!

- we want to get married outside and had the whole 'it's not recognized if not in a Catholic Church' speech - but it's my wedding and I feel that we can still be good Catholics regardless of location! We ended up finding a married Catholic priest who will marry us outside.

- bridesmaids dresses - who likes them, who doesn't, are they too expensive, etc.

- not having ANY life because you have to see a different vendor every day because we had to make sure we booked people since our wedding was only 6 months from our engagement

- spending TONS of money on ONE day and knowing this means we'll never be able to buy a house for years to come!

- WORRYING about EVERYTHING - will my dress come in on time? will the band be good? will we have time for pictures? will it rain?

In fact the only thing that has been 'okay' so far was registering! I can't wait for the day, but I could have totally skipped all the planning! Can't WAIT for the honeymoon!

Finding the hall was very very difficult, and the churches restrictions of stuff is fustrating and annoying.

It's hard to remember that it's still about the 2 people when everyone puts their 2 cents into it!
We had to find another venue after a big blowout the I had with my FFIL and trickled down to the parents and now we are doing everything which is so far so good b/c now he knows he cannot push me around!
He sees that I love his son & I will stand up for me & us when I have to!!

But the whole thing is stressful and everyone who already did this says elope - but then you want a little something even if it's not the big show!!

Feeling guilty for spending this much money on one day!

Definitely the guest list...and figuring out where we are going to live.

Printing out the envelopes for the invitations. I really wish we would have used a calligrapher. But that part is over and the invitations are out! Next, I think that the table seating is going to cause some arguments.

So far, it's been the money. We just bought our house in August, I got into a car accident in November and have been out of work since. Then FH decided to quit his job and take 2 weeks to look for a new one in December. It's so exciting but when you step back and see what you're spending it's overwhelming. And the other part was taking care of my parents after their car accident over the summer and not knowing if my Dad will be able to walk me down the isle or dance with me. That's probably the worst part. He's so upset about it.

For me, it has been having to deal with my FSIL. As some of you know, I have not gotten along with her from the first day I met her and this weekend the whole thing exploded. I have 221 days left until the wedding and I can not wait so that I do not have to deal with her anymore.

I have just begun but it is a toss up between choosing the reception hall and hearing my Dad complain about money.

LACK OF FUNDS!!!

Other than that.. the hair & make up trials were brutal..

Then finding the BM dresses.. who knew that could be so hard?

But I still have a little over 9months.. im sure i'll find worse..

Yep - writing so many checks and having everything cost at least twice what I thought it would

Trying to please everyone has been very difficult, although this day really is for me and FI we can't have everyone else be miserable or complaining. Also some people feel the need to give criticism which I can deal with if it is constructive not just 'oh no I don't like that' which I've heard a couple of times.

Unsolicited 'advice' and comments!!!
('why do you have to have a cake at the rehearsal dinner? No ones going to want to eat it after the big meal!' I'M paying for it so shut up!)

Guest list (inviting people he/I haven't seen in 15 years... mainly his side) and trying to get addresses/FULL names from parents

FH complaining about money (meanwhile I'M handling our budget... don't worry about it!! just stop spending!! )

Deciding on the hall - I nearly fainted at one point!

THE GUEST LIST!

It's actually been fun doing most other things.

Re: What do you think was the worst part of this wedding process so far??

Overall I'm enjoying wedding planning .. but I have days where I get 'panic attacks' and really have to settle myself and realize why we're doing this -- to be together as man and wife!

Money is the big issue, of course -- and the constant worrying about how broke we're gonna be after the wedding. THE BIG issue! Everything else hasn't been too bad-- I'll admit that we got lucky with a lot of things, though. Got our 1st picks for hall/church/DJ and Photog/Video on the spot.

We're the opposite of most regarding the guest lists and trying to cut it down -- actaully having ENOUGH people to invite and meeting our minimum is the big issue for us! We are having a small wedding, and need 100. I guess I have this mindset that I don't want it to look as though NOONE wants to come to our wedding, or have a room 1/2 empty .. it makes me feel SOO upset sometimes...

When we sent out the STD's, a lot of our OTT guests told us they cannot make it. For a lot of reasons that really got me down in the dumps. So for me personally, that has been the hardest part. You do this actual WEDDING b/c you want your friends and loved ones to share in your joy, and I feel somedays that most people could care less
