What do you think was the worst part of this wedding process so far??

Original post by neen

I have to admit the invitations and registry (yeah, can you believe it) was the worst so far. I say registering because my FH insisted that he come with me--oh boy what a mistake--I had to drag him around Fortunoff's to hear him say 'whatever you like honey.' He means well.....

Overall I'm enjoying wedding planning .. but I have days where I get 'panic attacks' and really have to settle myself and realize why we're doing this -- to be together as man and wife!

Money is the big issue, of course -- and the constant worrying about how broke we're gonna be after the wedding. THE BIG issue! Everything else hasn't been too bad-- I'll admit that we got lucky with a lot of things, though. Got our 1st picks for hall/church/DJ and Photog/Video on the spot.

We're the opposite of most regarding the guest lists and trying to cut it down -- actaully having ENOUGH people to invite and meeting our minimum is the big issue for us! We are having a small wedding, and need 100. I guess I have this mindset that I don't want it to look as though NOONE wants to come to our wedding, or have a room 1/2 empty .. it makes me feel SOO upset sometimes...

When we sent out the STD's, a lot of our OTT guests told us they cannot make it. For a lot of reasons that really got me down in the dumps. So for me personally, that has been the hardest part. You do this actual WEDDING b/c you want your friends and loved ones to share in your joy, and I feel somedays that most people could care less

yeah, this minimum cr@p the halls insist on has got to stop... they need to come up with more options for those who want to have ~100 guests or less..

The stress for one! FI and I hve been together for over 6 years now, and never fought about anything. So we never believed people when they told us that the closer it got to the wedding, the more we would fight. Well, the big day is 7 weeks away now, and I feel like we're fighting all the time over the stupidest things, all wedding related, of course! Ugh - wedding stress will NOT be something I miss after we're married!
The other thing that's been really hard is the whole money situation. We've getting some help from the family, but we have a house as well - and on top of paying a mortgage every month and all the other household bills, sometimes making all the wedding payments was a tight squeeze! I'll be glad to get back to our low-key quiet life once we're husband and wife! :)

trying to get addresses/FULL names from parents

I think that was the worst, getting names and addressed from his mother.. She gave me a photo copy of his grandmothers phone book. More then half the names in the book had a big X over it with the words deceased covering them.

Then I get the Bobby so I asked like an idiot is that Short for Robert she goes no he is Michael. How the hell am I suppose to know that???

Or how about addressing her friends as MR and MRs and getting yelled at later on that they arnt married they just live together and have different last names. I told her that my crystal ball is in the repair shop.

I looked up 3/4 of the addresses on the whitepages.com.
That was one of my largest nightmares so far

SHe sends me an email today saying that they aren't married, his last is so and so!! So i wrote back telling her SHE never GAVE me his last name so how should i know???

ANd 'OH So and so's are Doctors!!! you have to put that' Ok, and HOW am i supposed to know that???? I never even met them!!!!

trying to do this long distance and squeeze all the vendor visits into my weekend trips home (when all I really want to do is relax and spend time with my family).

Coming up with the guest list was also hard. I think even after the 20% average of NOs factored in, we are still going to be at least 50 people over what I thought. Eeek! So many people from Missouri are coming. I thought maybe 40...now it is closer to 75! Everybody wants to come to NY!

Trying to deal with having my shower and bachelorette party in both places without offending anybody. My mother and sister want it in NY and his mother and sisters want it here.

Unsolicited 'advice' and comments!!!
('why do you have to have a cake at the rehearsal dinner? No ones going to want to eat it after the big meal!' I'M paying for it so shut up!)

UGH SO TRUE! This has been the worst part BY FAR for me!!

'You have too many BMs'; 'You don't have enough BMs'; 'Hawaii is SO overdone' etc etc

I can so deal without THAT!!

Finding a church.
Fearing the church.
Second guesing the church.

ok, so I haven't some so much yet. Kinda stuck on that one.
hall & dress --not bad. Registering harder than I thoght, but managable.

Finding a band is also seeming little tricky.

LOL- I have a few relatives like that.
And I have a Danny, who's legal name is Denny, not Daniel. I think he is going to be Mr. D. LAstname on the invites

I've decide not to stress about FH 's family since one of them wrote our engagement card out to J--& his lady. ( he wouldn't let me signthe thank you that way )

Definately the guest list and my family needs to get over the fact that FH's family is not contributing. They would if we asked but FH won't, he'd rather we kick in more.

Feeling guilty for spending this much money on one day!

Think of it as a really nice SUV that will give you enjoyment for years to come. Only you still have to keep up the maintainance ( sp?) of your heart.

Best Wishes,

At first I thought that the hall would be the hardest part, I'm not having a large bridal party (just siblings) and we wanted to stay close to the 120 minimum. Little did I know the HORRORS of creating a guest list (mine is at 200 and I have no idea who I can cut), compromises on attire (still not settled) AND the difficulty in squeezing names and addresses out of people you don't feel comfortable cursing at (or sifting through their personal property). I need a vacation so bad!
