Victims drop cases all the time - would you like to have your character assasinated? They would rip her to threads for not being a saint.
If you started the charges and the trial... and if you were *really* raped or assaulted... IMO you are a bigger idiot for dropping the charges.
You will look bad either way at that point whether you continue or not. By dropping the charges... there is absolutely no gain. At least by going to trial... you can at least chance that justice may be served.
Even my FW said the same thing (and she hates Kobe). This woman had no case whatsoever... and frankly she was just looking for a quick buck IMO.
I don't think its about 'looking bad' for rape victims, but for going through more trauma. Obviously, many people like you have already made up their minds without hearing any part of a trial.
ETS: You said 'a bigger idiot' - you mean she's an idiot in the first place? Or a bigger idiot than a rapist?? You have to be kidding me!

This has been my take on the case for a while...I think that she has consensual intercourse but I think the 'anal' may have been rape. Girls get goo oo over celebrities all the time and sometimes what starts out consensual can turn to a violent crime.
If she has sex with 20 guys or 2..doesnt matter..prostitutes get raped all the time and sex is thier profession. I think that rape victims get raped through the legal system all over again. Her sexual history should had had no baring on the events that happended..its like saying because she was promiscuous she cant get raped.
Sometimes I relsih when these stars fall from grace..it breaks through the cobwebs that some people have for brains than $$$ makes you a saint.

I don't really want to break off topic here so I am only going to comment about THIS case. This women has had a history of bad things (wasn't she arrested previously?).
You are totally missing my point. I don't even LIKE Kobe. I really don't. I would most definitely hear the case if I was on the jury. I would listen to the facts.
But this women has had a history of BSing people. Sure if I was on the jury I would listen to every detail and I wouldn't pass judgement like I am doing now.
But the reason why I am passing this kind of judgement now is because the case has already been dropped by the prosecution.
I think you are a little short-sighted not to see that this women is totally full of crap and what she did now proves it. But you are entitled to your opinion.

Posted by lorsin Agreed, but my point was more that more and more these days celebrities seem to get 'Get Out of Jail Free' cards.
I agree that her story was shady, but it should have at least gone to trial and he should have been found legitimately not guilty. More credibility for him that way I think.
I don't think you understand exactly whats going on here with thsi case.
First off... let me say I am *definitely* not a Kobe Bryant fan. He is a cocky MF'er that can go to hell for all I care.
With that said... the reason why this didn't go to trial was because THE RAPE VICTIM decided to drop the case herself. The had no case she knows it.
Sure celebrities can get away with murder most of the time. But in this particular case... the fact that this was against Kobe Bryant had nothing to do with him getting off easy. In fact if he wasn't a celebrity... this wouldn't have went to trial PERIOD.
I understand she dropped the charges. My question to you then is do you think if this same exact situation were in court with two non-'notables' it would have ended the same way? Because I don't.
I think the publicity and the media around it made it impossible for this girl to go through with it. I find it shady that her name and picture 'happened' to surface, which resulted in death threats, etc.
Obviously none of us know exactly what happened. I do know that many, many rape cases never even get surfaced at all because the women are too ashamed and scared. I don't think an outsider can understand that unless it happened to them. Add a media circus to it and of course it's easier to drop it altogether and try to pick up the pieces of your life.
BTW - I'm respect your opinion completely and I'm not trying to pick on you. I just enjoy lively debate and this is a subject that really gets to me.

AND Kobe has been proved to be a deciever, a liar - he cheated on his wife- why do we believe him over her? What history of BSing people? The media can turn anything around - about you they can say 'He spends all day ont he internet talking to women' and how would THAT sound?
It doesn't matter if you like Kobe Bryant. We don't know what happened and we never will. We can have an opinion but we will never really know.

Kobe is definitely guilty of adultery. Its obvious. But that is not the charge in question.
The charge is the rape... the prosecution dropped it after all this time. They must have known they had absolutely no case (probably because he didn't rape her).

It was dropped because she wasn't assaulted. They had sex but I am sure she wanted it. She thought Im gonna have sex with a basketball star. And then after the deed was done she saw $$$$$

I'll give you another reason why this case was dropped.
She is still pursuing a civil case (for money) against him. If this criminal case went to trial... and he was aquitted of the charges... her civil case would look even THAT MUCH weaker.
For her its all about the dollar bill. And I am sure she will get some sort of cash in the civil case cause Kobe will probably just settle to shut her up and get him out of the media spotlight (especially after getting all those millions in his new contract).
Maybe I am the only one here that thinks this is obvious.

I wonder if maybe it was consensual but then he got a bit rough and she freaked out but didn't say anything???? Or that it was rape but too hard to convince a jury since she had sex later on (or before him??)
I also think that if this wasn't the great Kobe Bryant we wouldn't hear about it.
I think he should be accountable for whatever happened if he was in the wrong.
