What is the big deal about Hawaii?

I know it must be beautiful, but what makes it so much better than anywhere else (especially when we are talking Honeymoons)?
I am not really sure I understand the obsession. Its just whenever anyone posts polls or questions about honeymoons its all Hawaii Hawaii Hawaii with some other places thrown in.
Believe me I am not knocking Hawaii at all, I just don't really get why so many people think its the best place to go when there are so many options out there, especiall when you consider the cost and the length of the flight.

I actually just wanted to add-
we wanted to do the BoraBora hut over the water thing- SOOO romantic.
But I think after a few days, we wopuld die of boredom. We like nightlife, so we will spend the first 4 nights being 'romantic' in Maui, then 5 or 6 nights in Honolulu.

Hawaii.. Hawaii.. Hawaii... its looks beautiful but I never thought of it for my HM.

Me and FH decided to do Tahiti because we know we will never be able to do that again in our lifetime. I feel like Hawai is totally doable...

Plus Ive been to PR & Dr. and I am going to Los Cabos for my Bacheleorette.. My FH wanted to do Europe, but I lived in London and saw paris, so maybe I will take him there for our 1 yr.. sorry for getting off the beaten path!!

I have always always wanted to go to Hawaii!! and for some absolutely unexplainable reason i feel that if i don't go for my honeymoon i will never get there!

Also, i have been blessed and fortunate enough to have traveled alot to Canada, all over Europe, Italia, and Puerto Rico - not to mention the United States. So FH wanted to go someplace new - and he's never been out of the country and hasnt really seen much of the US (he went to niagra falls once on the NY side)- he actually wants to travel the US and see all 50 states, which I would like to do also, but would love to travel the world.

I think Hawaii is a comfortable in between it's someplace i've always wanted to go and it's still in the US so FHs first reall trip other than Disney/Florida (he's been there twice) is not too far out of his comfort zone. He's never said anything but I know the idea of going to a 'foreign' land where they may or may not speak english is intimidating to him since he's never experienced it before.

And its supposed to be gorgeous!! Also, the weather in Europe during Feb i'm told is not very nice.

We don't travel a lot - we're total homebodies! At the same time, we're both huge water people - every free moment is spent on a jet ski or on a boat with a fishing pole in our hands. If we're going away - we're going where we know we'll never have the reason to go to again. If our wedding isn't reason enough, I can't imagine what would be.

Many people I know went there for their honeymoon, mostly b/c of the 'once-in-a-lifetime' thing

My friend went with her husband b/c she loves the beach but he loves to 'do' stuff, and they could do both in Hawaii

what I can't understand is the people from the east coast who fly all the way there and then just sit on a beach! but to each his own...

i'd go to the UK before i went to Hawaii. thats the 1st question my sister asked me about our hm. we are going to disney. yes, we can go there whenever and its not like we can jet to HI whenever the mood strikes us, but we both have no interest in going there.

Hawaii is beautiful.....its a place you can experience all of the elements at once...for ex: mountains overlooking ocean. Volcanos along the ocean.

But FH and I already went there for vacation so it was not an option for HM. But its definitely an experience. HM to us is an all inclusive where we don't have to do anything!

I'm going to Ireland for my Honeymoon. Obviously not a typical honeymoon locale. But this is where my FH and I wanted to go. My FH and I like culture and history. We have done the Caribbean and all that jazz. We feel like we can do that anytime. I think it is a matter of preference. For a Honeymoon as long as you and your FH are happy with your choice, then it doesn't matter where you are going!

Hey im flying to Tahiti to sit on the beach... they do it beacause the water is so much prettier than anything you are going to see in Tristate.. I mean really does the Hudson river even compare or Jones beach versus a beach in hawaii...

I dunno - I never had the desire...I would just rather be an international traveler, than a national traveler.

I'm sure it's beautiful, but if you're not a swimmer (FI) or into beaches - it might not be the best place to go.

I agree with Christine...

I have been there 3 times..once with parents, twice with FH....we visited 4 islands....it is very nice but I am glad we have been there so now for our HM we don't need to go there....

the scenery is beautiful, it is American so that is nice...but if you want great beaches..not the place to go....they are nice but not the best for swimming....anyway, it is nice but far away and not too cheap.....

favorite island: Kauai...

for us - it's a place we both always wanted to visit. FH loves the beach, and is a surfer, so Hawaii has always been a dream for him. He has not travelled much, while I have travelled a lot internationally, but never did much national travel. figured it was time to see the sights in the good old USA!

edited to say - we both also love the outdoors: hiking, biking, etc. we're staying on kauai which has a lot of that to offer.

We chose Hawaii because we are going on our HM in July & hurricane season starts earlier - so Mexico, Florida, & Caribbean were out.

We love the beach & boating & fishing - so Hawaii was the perfect choice for us. I wanted paradise for my vacation!

Hawaii was #1 on our list--long before we were even engaged. In all honesty, I still would LOVE to go there for my honeymoon. I heard the sites there are beyond paradise. However, it is sooooo expensive We are not ones to be penny pinchers... especially for our honeymoon. We both decided that Aruba has everything we were looking for in a honeymoon. I cant wait to go.

I think that your honeymoon should be a place that you normally wouldn't be able to go. Hawaii is typically one of the most expensive places someone could vist. Not just getting there but also spending money is insane. This is one time in your life that you will be able and willing to spend that much on a vacation and have the time (2 weeks) for such a long trip. I would love to do Europe but I know that I would want to see everything and I know that it wouldn't be relaxing....
