What is the point of cry packs?

Original post by Preshy7

im really just wondering? i find it a little presumptuous to assume that people will cry at my wedding- or that my wedding will be that touching that people will cry
what is your take on cry packs?

I always cry at weddings. I always bring tissues though.
I think its cute, but just an added expense I can't really justify.

I'm definitely not doing them because I come from a family of hard @$$es! Noone cries so it's not worth it! FH's family will probably be hysterical but...still not worth the extra effort in my case.

We did them...and we heard non stop compliments about them and all the details of our wedding. Even 40 year old men were commenting on how everything was thought of and appreciated.
I heard of them before LIW. I first heard of them from The Knot...Martha Stewart's Tissue Pouches. For some reason I cringe when I hear 'cry packs'.
We did put them on the chairs...and I didn't nor did our guests find them pretentious, but that's my guests...you know yours better.

I felt the same way...

Like who am I to assume that people are so excited that we're getting married that they would cry! And f they are criers...they probably would bring their own!

I never even saw it as presumptuous. I just thought it was cute. A lot of people *do* cry at weddings. I'm not doing them, but I think it's a cute idea!

I didn't think it was presumptious, I just know my family!! And his aunt cries at mushy commercials, so I know she'll def use one (or 2!) Plus I think it'll be a nice gesture, just a small token of appreciation for attending our ceremony. It was prob the easiest DIY project we did and really didn't cost much, so I won't be upset if they don't get used; but I'm pretty sure they will.
