What is your worst wedding day fear?

Original post by dannisayz

I've been having a lot of nightmares lately and they are all the same thing. I have two exes that I'm still friendly with and they are both invited to the wedding. One is married with a baby and the other is in the beginning of a divorce. I know both still hold some feelings for me.

Now in comes the nightmare. I keep dreaming that one of them comes to the wedding with an agenda to break FH and I up. One dream involved one of my exes coming to the bridal suite before the ceremony and professing that he's been empty without me and he made a mistake in letting me go.

I love FH more than anything and I know why things never worked out with the other guys (distance, maturity, and commitment amoung other things). I just can't get past these fears that they will try to say something on the day of the wedding.

So, what fears do you have?

so many! But, I am a big crier at weddings and considering that when FI proposed I was a mess I am worried I am not going to be able to control my emotions at the alter in front of all these ppl.
At my Best Friends wedding the wedding planner told me to 'get a grip'

I was never emotional at weddings until I got engaged.

We went to a wedding about a month after we got engaged, I didn't even know the bride and groom, but the bride cried as she walked down the aisle and I started to cry uncontrollably. And now, whenever I watch wedding-related shows on tv I start to cry.

So, I'm worried I may cry at my wedding, too.

Honestly - that ill have to GO to the bathroom during the ceremony....it always happens at the worst times. Or i fart. Its blunt - but u never know!

that i trip down the aisle.

I get food on my dress.

That my vendors either don't show up, or are extremely late.

And - Certain people get way too drunk (I have a few friends, and I'm not a fan of their girl/boyfriends and I'm afraid they will get way too hammered an make some sort of scene...it wouldn't be the first time they have done this at a wedding. Not inviting them was not an option.)

A panic attack and the accompanying gastrointestinal upset/the flu/ a cold/ my period

That a vendor doesn't show up.

That something happens to throw us wildly off schedule and I have to pay vendors for overtime or we have to keep people waiting.

Someone important not being able to make it due to traffic, illness, accident, etc.

That I'm not happy with how I look - dress, veil, makeup, whatever.

Someone gets too drunk.

This thread is good therapy!

Re: What is your worst wedding day fear?

most of my nightmares have been about not being fully dressed (no makeup, no hair done, or my dress being ugly)

the other day I was at work and suddenly thought to myself...'what if the photographer didn't show up??'

!!!

I swear the pain the suddenly hit my chest was incredible, horrible fear.

Although now a real likely fear I have is FH's sister ruining the day with something, I could totally see her throwing a glass of wine on me

I have soo many...

That I trip down the aisle (very good possibility, I'm a major klutz)
That my FH is sick, he acts like a baby when he has a cold
That I don't meet my minimum
I've been having fears lately that I forget to get my hair or makeup done, or that I forget to buy shoes
Spilling something on my dress
Ripping my dress with my heels
People not having a good time
FH yelling at me if I have a drink
FH not wanting to pose for pictures, or not smiling in any of them.

I could go on and on...

So glad to see we seem to all have similar fears!

My nightmares are always the vendors not coming thru for me or my hair/makeup isn't done. I'm such a worrier and sometimes feel I'm behind on getting things booked and finishing my diy projects. Hence, the nightmares.

But, like past brides have said, I will not sweat the small stuff, expect something will go wrong and just be happy because it's my wedding day!

It seems like there are quite a few girls with a fear of spilling/getting food on their dress. I have a friend who can be a little clumsy with her drinks sometimes. She was terrified of spilling something on her dress on her wedding day. So she started drinking gin and tonics... which are pretty much clear.

That totally eliminated her fear, knowing that nothing she could spill would stain. Her wedding day went off without a hitch ( I don't think she ended up spilling anything anyway). And she ended up liking gin and tonics so much, she still drinks them every time we go out!

I was home sick last week and was watching People's Court and there was a bride suing her DJ for being a no-show with no warning at all. I felt so bad for her. No music at her wedding. Her dad is so upset he couldn't dance with her. She was crying...Judge Milian gave it to the DJ but it's too late. So that's my new fear!!!

Re: What is your worst wedding day fear?

its weird bc my 2 fears are so opposite of eachother and go back and forth fearing them, way under minimum or way over minimum

other than that stuff happens, things can be late or go wrong

as far as your ex fear, i personally wouldn't have invited them if i feared that at all. I know you said you remain good friends with them but to be in fear they might ruin your wedding then that is different and not like a real good friend who would never do such a thing. And if one says he still loves you and wants to be with you that shouldn't be a fear, just laugh in his face bc if you love fh and dont want to be with nobody else it shouldn't be a problem.

I guess it isn't really a problem because I'm happy where I am now, but I don't think I could ever laugh in his face. He was a big part of my life for a long time and I do care for him and his feelings, just not in a romantic way anymore. I think of him as a big brother who takes care of me and I wouldn't dream of him not sharing my day with me.

I know he would never say anything on the day of, but it still lurks in the back of my head. I mean, how do you respond to someone professing their love for you when you are about to walk down the aisle?

well not laugh in his face then but just say 'i am getting married, i cant listen to this sorry and politely excuse yourself'

i don't know, i mean ive had it happen but not about to walk down the aisle and i just dont pay attention to it, im just like OH SHUT UP but thats me. For me as long as they dont do something to make a scene and ruin the wedding i am fine, whatever they say to me wouldn't effect me probably if they said it to just me but thats bc i wouldn't even listen to what they have to say again just me

Well, I cannot worry to much because I know how he feels . . . he regrets letting me go very much. We were together on and off for over 5 years and it wasn't until I met FH that he realized that 1. He'd lost me for good and 2. He really did want a committed relationship with me.

I love him dearly as my friend, but I know deep down it would of been a volatile relationship/marriage if I stayed.

I guess I'm not one to stomp on someones heart.

well every relationship is different. I have an ex i was with for almost 9 years. For me its over and i moved on and dont care what he wants or how he feels now bc honestly he F*CKED UP, he should've known better and he put me through alot of bs and i mean ALOT. So for me personally thats why i dont feel bad, to me its a joke like are you serious? i gave you over 8 years to do something and fix things, i extended myself more than i should have and put up with more bs than i should have. So for me it would just be like 'no i moved on i cant even listen to this' and how i have handled the situation in the past. But for me nothing is there anymore, no love at all, no leftover feelings, no missing him so when he did do things i didnt care to hear anymore i did more than enough of that
