Hello ladies. I need some advice. I have 8 bms, and am having a Monday (memorial day) afternoon wedding. I asked the girls to sleep at the hotel the night before the wedding, and they all agreed. I will be paying for two rooms for the 8 girls. So four in each, 2 to a bed (they all know each other).
Is it unreasonable to ask them to pay for the following: their dresses, their own hair and makeup (if they want it done professionally), and their hotel room (if they want a separate one from the two I'm offering)? Or should I contribute more?

Re: What should a BM pay?
If you're offering a place for them to stay at no cost, then I think that's fine (i.e. your first 2 rooms). But if they want their own room separate, I'd expect them to pay for that themselves.
My BM's will need to take care of their dresses, shoes, hair, makeup (if they choose). They all have the option of getting a free mani/pedi since my sister is a manicurist, but if they go elsewhere, they need to pay for that. I'm not requiring them to stay at the hotel with me the night before, but if they choose to, or if they book one the night of, they need to pay for that too. I'm also being EXTREMELY generous with their gifts.

Re: What should a BM pay?
I'm thinking of their DOJ and mani/pedis as gifts along with a little travel bag (got the bags already) packed with overnight stuff that they'll need. Do you think that is good?

Re: What should a BM pay?
My girls are paying their dresses and that's it unless they want professional makeup. I covered shoes, hair, accessories, gifts, etc.
EDIT: I also only have 3 girls.

I think you are being fair enough. My girls are paying for their hair and makeup but I am not making them get it done

Re: What should a BM pay?
I hope my girls don't expect me to pay for hair/makeup, because I can't afford to, but I also don't care what they do in that area because they will all look beautiful no matter what.
If we were staying in a hotel the night before I'd pay for it though.
As far as anything else, I don't think its too much to ask them to pay for the dress/hair/makeup. you being very generous!

Re: What should a BM pay?
bms should expect to pay for their own hair, makeup, dress, shoes, accomodations, etc etc
if the bride can afford to pay for any of the above for the girls then that is def nice and generous....but every wedding i have been in so far i have not expected the bride to pay for those things.

my girls are paying for their own dresses, shoes, accessories & accommodations. Because i know of their financial situation I am giving them their hair and makeup as a gift along with personal gifts.

What you are doing is absolutely fine. You are giving them the option for a free room. It is their choice and preference if they want a separate room; therefore, they are fully in charge of paying for that room for themselves. When someone becomes a bridesmaid I think that they must be under the impression that they are responsible for the dress, shoes, and hair... and possible, makeup and nails depending on the bride.

We are just getting 2 rooms for the girls to stay the night before. The girls agreed to pay for hair, makeup, their dress, etc. I agree you are being very generous.

I think what you're doing is absolutely fine. My BMs will have to pay for their dress & if they want makeup, their makeup. I'm going to see how funds are, and if I can, I'm going to pay for their hair.
I'm paying for overnight accomodations for the night before & the night of the wedding for the BMs.

Re: What should a BM pay?
In my opinion, that is A LOT to ask of the BMs. Why are you requiring them to stay at the hotel? If they have to stay at the hotel, the you should be paying for it. Same with hair and make up. If you don't want them to do it themselves, then you should pay for it. They should pay for their dresses, though.

Re: What should a BM pay?
i think is given that they should pay for their wedding dress. i'm also paying for the hotel for the night before for all the birdesmaids (i have 12!). my MOH is from out of town so i'm paying for her flight as well. i ordered and paid for their shoes. as far as makeup and hair, i told them its was an option if they wanted to get them professionally done but not mandatory. so they only really had to pay for their dresses and the hotel for the rest of the wkd.

Re: What should a BM pay?
I am actually doing the same as you are - paying for their shared hotel rooms for 3 nights (most are from out of town and the days before would be a bachelorette party and rehearsal dinner) and my sister and a friend of mine offered to help with hair and makeup. they will pay for their own dresses, etc and if they want professional makeup.

I have never expected the bride to pay for any of these things. I think BMs understand that these things are their responsibility.
