usually if the girl breaks the engagement then she should give it back
if the boy breaks the engagement you can keep it
i think thats the 'proper' way to do it. but i say keep it and sell it.

Nope doesn't matter if he broke it off he is still entitled to it back. Do you think he would try to get it back? If so I wouldn't do anything with it for now because if you sell it and he sues you for it you will have to pay him.
Also, whose names were the contracts in. If they were just in yours (like the RH, band, etc) then unfortunately he isn't liable for any of the lost money. THis is why I made FH sign EVERY contract also
My name was on EVERY SINGLE contract, I signed my name only!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some vendors are being really good they told me they would give me half back. My entertainer is going to give me all back. My photograher whom I love sooo dearly told me that he will keep it as a credit bec I will def use him for my next wedding. My limos , I have a credit for girls night or my next event. And my hall whre I wanted to get married sooo badly told me they will work with me on getting something back but they need to book it . Its a popular date so hopefully they will

I personally would sell it and either pay off debt, take a really nice trip, or get something very nice--I am thinking Gucci or Chanel right now!!!!

Honestly, don't do anything with it. Put it in a box and put it away for a while...I know you're angry/hurt/head spinning right now, but anything you do right now will probably not be with a clear head. Unless all the money you paid for the wedding put you in a hole, then hold onto it. until you decide what you want to do with it.

I would post it on craigslist, ebay, newspaper, go to jewelry store or pawnshop (most of them buy jewelry).

Pawn shop in the city or go to the diamond district and see what they'll give you for it. They just melt the band down and just resell the stones.

Get it appraised first so that you know what you should be getting for it...they should give you a certificate of some sort

Please get it appraised first so you know the value. Only then should you go and sell it. Go to the diamond district and see what you can get for it, but if you know the value first then you'll know if you're getting a good price or not for the buyback.
