I don't think it's silly at all -- it's a nice gesture to the guests.

I had never heard of it until LIW either and had no idea what it was. I didn't think I was gonna do it but honestly, it's a good idea. It certainly isn't necessary but I think it's a nice gesture to do for your poor dancing guest's feet. They'll appreciate it, and it's nice to have something different. It's one of the DIY projects I'm working on now!
Instead of the bathroom tho, I'm going to put the basket on the floor by the dj. I find that sometimes you're so busy dancing you don't find the time to escape into the bathroom and then you'll never see the slippers!
We're getting a variety of common sizes. Mainly 7-9 and a few 6 in 4 different colors; black, white, silver, and gold.
How about throwin' in a 10 for a bigfoot like me
I was gonna say the same thing! I'm a size 10 and one of my BM is a size 11 - so maybe a few bigger sizes

It seems like a great idea.. but I'm not going to do it. I'm spending enough on extras here and there, and unfortunately the slipper basket isn't an extra I have to have.

I think its a really great idea & by the end of the night there are always ladies in bare, stockinged feet. I'd rather see them in chinese slippers or plain, old house slippers. I know the house slippers basically come in a one size fits all variety. There are a number of post on this topic.

I think it is one of the most thoughtful, least expensive wedding ideas. Regular house slippers are under a buck each if you buy them in bulk. I think so many guests would appreciate it - even if they just take the slippers home with them.
It is definitely not necessary, but I think it is a thoughtful touch.

Re: What the heck is a.......
My cousin had a slipper basket in the lady's room, I swear these woman where like animals fighting over slippers. It was so funny! !
I've also seen brides give them out to the BP. I thought it was cute so when there feet started to hurt from dancing they at least matched the girls dresses.

In my opinion, it isn't necessary! I had never heard of the idea until I started reading LIW.
Ditto!!!

I am SO glad that this idea caught on and so many brides love it!!
My guests went crazy over it!! they still talk about the slippers... I paid $$$$ for their meal but they were happy with a .99 cents pair of slippers!! !
