Re: What was the best engagement gift....

I hate to say this, but it was money. We needed it bad at the time. BUT, think about what her and her FH like to do, maybe get them a gift certificate for massages or something nice that's not a registry gift or something like. Something they can use together. I know I would have liked that.

Re: What was the best engagement gift....

I liked the 'keepsake' gifts. My sister got me my toasting flutes. Mom got me a jewerly box. I got my sister her cake cutting set. If you want a free planner, call State Farm Insurance.

Re: What was the best engagement gift....

The most useful was definitely money.

But one of my friends gave me a bunch of planning books, a journal, and a ton of cute notepads for all the lists and notes I'd need to write during the planning. It was cute, and I've used up all the notepads!

Re: What was the best engagement gift....

When I first got engaged the best gifts ppl got me were a planner, bottle of champagne, and lots of bridal magazines (preferrably martha stewrat!)

As a couple, for our e-party the best gifts we got were obviously much needed cash, our toasting flutes from tiffany, and my best friend got us stuff from pottery barn. SHe got us 2 wine glasses, candle holders w/ cool tapers, and a table runner with placemats and in the card wrote that she wanted to help set the stage for many romantic dinners to come! I thought that was great!

Good Luck!

Re: What was the best engagement gift....

Useful: $$$$$ and gift cards were great
Unique but great: filet mignon from Omaha steak company and a bottle of red wine - it made for a great romantic dinner for us to celebrate!

My best friend got me a Martha Stewart planner which was awesome and my grandmother got me the Waterford Unity Candle set, which was incredible! My favorite registry engagement gift was my lobster pot!

Re: What was the best engagement gift....

My favorite gift was a blanket my sister (MOH) gave us with our name and date on it. I was hinting that I would like one and she caught on. That was my favorite gift.

Re: What was the best engagement gift....

We loved the money! But the best non-monetary gift we got was a 6 months subscription to the wine of the month club. DH and I love wine and each month we got 2 unique (and delicious) bottles in the mail from different regions. We looked forward to that and got to try some great stuff!

Re: What was the best engagement gift....

My grandmother knit us a beautiful white afghan and she also gave us Waterford toasting flutes.

When I got engaged, I bought my mom and I nice expandable plastic file folders with multiple sleeves and labels in them so that we can keep magazine clippings and notes in them and take them with us to appointments. I bought them at Staples. I decorated my moms with a cute wedding cake sticker. I have found that some of the wedding planners out there lack enough pages or folders to put things in. These file folders have really come in handy.

If your friend is an organizer-type of person, maybe she would like this. You could include label-makers and fun pens and things with it.

Gary's mom bought us a brand new side by side refrigerator. I love it.
