What was the worst excuse

Original post by Jmg11

any one gave you for not coming to any of your events like e-party? Shower? B-party? Wedding?

The worst one I got was from a woman who said to me - 'Sorry I missed your shower, I had to do laundry'

Nice huh??

A friend of my FIL said they had a shower that afternoon about 30 minutes away....our wedding was at 8PM...hours after the shower!

How about these?
My father's cousin couldn't come to our wedding because he can't drive far distances because he has stomach problems.
Or one of DH's friends didn't show up at the wedding because his new girlfriend wasn't feeling well.
I also had a cousin that didn't show because he was mad at his mom (my aunt)

Re: What was the worst excuse

one of my cowrkers, actually the one that helped Fh with the shower addresses didn't come beacuse none of the others came. They all had real conflicts, so I thought she jsut didn't have a ride, but she flat out told me her husband would have dropped her off, but she couldn't go becuause she 'had no one to go with'

Why couldn't she go without people she knew? she would talk to strangers. She is the freindliest person I know. She knows all the guys who work in the lobby by name.

I can't complain though, I didn't go to a shower just because I didn't feel like it. FMIL was shocked when I told her that, but it was the fiance of a friend. She did come to mine though.

One of my friends said she couldn't leave her daughter (who was 6 months old) with her husband during my shower b/c her husband was afraid to be alone with her for more than an hour.

Sounds like there's more issues there than just her going to your shower!

A woman from my mothers job who was invited to my wedding declined because she 'is miserable and doesnt like to celebrate other peoples happiness'

Same happened to me.

We also had about ten people on DH's side not come to the wedding because they were mad at someone who was coming.

For our Post-Wedding Party: 'Can't go, too tired...'

For our Wedding Day (2 no shows): 'Car broke down which took 2 days to fix.' We NEVER receive phone call, e-mail, no fax, no communication for this couple's no show until our First Christmas Together when receiving a Christmas card from them.

Re: What was the worst excuse

I got 2 GOOD excuses for our e-party (both on HIS side!)

1- His cousin & husband said they couldn't attend b/c they couldn't find a baby-sitter for their children (mind you we sent out invites in APRIL and e-party was in JULY!) I think they were just mad that their bratty twins weren't invited (btw, a day before they said how they 'managed' to find one, and CAME to the party!)

2- His other cousin (who's 19) said 2 days before that he and his girlfriend/fiancee couldn't come b/c she had cramps! He should have come! (or did he have cramps also??!?!)

Ahhhhhhhhhh so annoying!!!

Re: What was the worst excuse

A couple who are our friends through my FH did not respond by the RSVP date for the e-party or bridal shower and when we called them they said they couldn't come and gave no excuse why. How rude!

Laundry, huh? She must have had to go down to the river and beat her clothes against rocks or something! What a poor excuse.

I don't remember any bad excuses. I did have people that did not RSVP at all. I think that's so rude.

Re: What was the worst excuse

My eparty is on Sunday, one day b4 my bday. Let's see what are some of the good ones:

'I can't come b/c I am not talking to 'Beth' and she will be there'

'Sorry, I know I RSVP'd yes but my mom is having a bday part for my niece that day'

' I have to work on Monday'

The eparty is a Sunday brunch and the excuse that you have to work on Monday is piss poor especially since they live 10 blocks away!

The excuse about 'Beth' is from my best friend of eight years and they are not talking over some boy they met at a bar.
