what would you do if posed with this problem?

what would you do if posed with this problem?

Found this question on another wedding site?

Topic: Alchohol issues.. Is this tacky?
From: heathershay01 Date: 1/24/2003 at 2:53 pm

I am a hardcore budget bride and I just don't think I can afford alchohol for my 200+ guests. So I'm thinking of only letting my family and closest friends have access to the champagne when the best man makes his toast. I guess I will just have to tell the waiters who gets a glass and who doesn't. Any suggestions on how to do this? Maybe show him pictures of the people I want to drink? What do you think?

One person's solution:

Heres an idea, just charge a cover at you wedding. That is what we are doing! We will charge a 20 dollar cover and that will take care of the food and drinks and we will make about a 5 dollar profit off each guest.

PLUS, we are doing the dollor dance so there is another profit making scheme!

Can you believe this?

wow...ok i think that is very tacky.

'table 3 only let aunt may and uncle joe have a glass of champagne. Aunt betrice asks how come i dont get one, waiter responds sorry i was told to not let you or anyone else at the table except aunt may and uncle joe have champagne. brides orders'

this is why you go to a hall that offers open bar.

i think that is really tacky

just when you think you have heard it ALL!
She should have a cash bar and be done with it! WOW!!

Hmmm.... I think no one should have champagne then. No offense to her. That's JMO. If I REALLY could not afford alcohol, I'd cut it out completely. If she is on a hardcore budget, why is she inviting 200+ people?

THIS MUST BE A JOKE????

That might be the tackiest thing I have ever heard!

Here I thought my cousin having a cash bar was the worst thing I had heard....

I believe that post-- How tight can her budget be-- she could always serve that cheap champagane that is like 3 bottles for ten dollars. It is shocking what people try to get away with.

ha, ha, that was a good laugh at least. i really hope she wasn't serious. i mean come on. if you can afford that many people **** it up and let everyone have some champagne. as for the one making a profit off the cover, omg!!!! i would never go to a wedding where i had to pay to get in (will they be checking id's too?) ha, ha....

Hideous. She absolutely cannot be exclusionary about this. What she oughta do is cut her guest list in half and serve booze. If she doesn't, that 200 person wedding is gonna clear out in less than 2 hours.

they are probably just guys having fun by toying with brides on a wedding site. i cannot imagine that either of those (especially the cover charge one) is legitimate.
my goodness. besides to make a $5 profit, i would have to charge $150 a head, if not more!!
