What would you do if you found out that your e-ring was....'recycled'

Original post by suven

DH and I were talking about one of his cousin's wive's diamonds. Turns out, the guy bought the diamond for his last girlfriend, but they broke up before he ever got a chance to propose.

When he met his now-wife, he reset the diamond and proposed to her with it.

And, the wife doesn't know...

what would you do?

- I think the true gift is HIM not the diamond. and just think of all the diamonds that come after anyhow- the wedding band, anniversary gifts, etc.

Ditto!!!!!!!!!

I would not like it at all. I would feel that it was tainted. I would want a different ring all together.

I'd give it back. Anything with a shadow or bad karma freaks me out.

When my brother married his second wife, she wore a wedding dress that was meant to be worn for a wedding that never took place. The dress was her dream dress and had she not already bought it, odds are she would have picked the same dress anyway. But to me, the dress was not purchased with the thoughts of marrying my brother. It was meant for someone else. Bad Karma - though they are still married, it gave me the creeps back then.

DH was married before and there is NO WAY I would've been okay with her diamond.

If money were an issue, I'd rather have a CZ than a real ring that was intended for a woman he loved before me and once shared dreams with.

And I agree with the 'bad karma' thing...

Id tell him to shove it up his A$$.

FH was married before, and he said he wouldnt have even sold his ex's old ring, and used the money to pay for mine.

Right now, her crappy a$$ old engagement ring is sitting in the back of his underwear drawer.

And I have my bling, that was picked out JUST for me.

I have to agree. The bad karma would upset me and I would feel somewhat duped.
If he wouldnt switch it for me I would.. even if it meant getting a smaller diamond

Ok-- if it was just the diamond it's not that big of a deal.

I mean- would it make a difference if he used the money he saved for another girl- towards a ring for the new one-- it's the same thing-- a diamond is an investment-- the setting and the ring itself is what is personal..

Unless of course it was some weird shaped diamond requested by girl #1.
