Well basically EVERY word my father has to say about my wedding is rude and uncalled for. How about calling my fiance Antonio when he knows its Adolfo...bad enough to me but in front of other people, I want to punch him in the head
O and then my mother who isnt giving me a DIMEEE and I never expected it because she cant afford it butttt then has the nerve to expect me to start incurring extra expenses for her benefit that are completely unecessary. 'Oh I dont want to deal with this, that and the other that day so get me a limo, a hotel room, etc. What the f mann
PS. Love how LIW edits W T F
you really aren't alone..my mom isn't giving me jack for the wedding and butts in on like my dress and it makes me so mad because she gives me the well it's your wedding and do what you want I don't care look

Its about time or finally that you are enaged. My Fh and I thought the phrase its about time was so funny that we put it on our Enagement Cake!! we have been dating since we were in highschool 17, 8 years later we are 26 and able to afford and happy to finally go the next level!
Then after we are married you know the next rude question will be 'When will you have a baby' I realzied these questions are always by people who are SINGLE AND ALONE!

I think it's great that you took something that could be rude and put a fun swing on it Believe me, I know where you are coming from...we are about to celebrate our 10 year anniversary next month

Re: Whats the rudest comment /question you've gotten since becoming engaged?
My uncle asked me if the reason I'm getting married in the summer is to save money (in a condescending way... obviously he doesn't know that that time of year is expensive...) and then complained that I'm making him wear a suit in the summer... Fh's aunt complained, 'Oh Katie, a Friday! Thats going to be hard...' or something like that, i've blocked it out of my memory lol. LIttle things here and there. But I don't think people realize how rude they are being. I think they are generally excited for you when trying to talk about your wedding and don't always realize what goes into the planning when they offer their opinions. i just shrug it off....
Except for when people start talking about when I'm going to have children. That pisses me off like no other. Before I was engaged, everyone asked when I was going to get engaged as if I had any idea when he was going to feel like asking. Somebody asked FSIL when Fh and I were going to get engaged and she actually said back, 'When are you going to get engaged?' Haha. Love it. Ps. did get engaged before the girl who asked...
Someone actually asked my uncle at his wedding (I witnessed it), so when are you going to have kids. For gods sake people, the man is not even past his wedding day and you are already demanding kids!!!
Those are the two rudest questions on earth: So when are you going to get married and when are you going to have kids?

I agree. FH and I just celebrated our 9 year anniversary and by the time we get married we will have been together 10 1/2 years. I told everyone I'm having a scrolling marquee at the wedding saying 'It's about time!'

from FMIL about my RH Westbury Manor is a 2nd rate place. If you get married there, I'll go, but I'll go under protest.
As a fellow WM bride, this pissed ME off! Rudeness!
If that pissed you off, imagine how I felt. I was ready to strangle her after she said that.

Re: Whats the rudest comment /question you've gotten since becoming engaged?
I can't believe the posts on this thread. People are very rude. I'm not sure mine is even worthy of posting. I have an acquaintance, used to be close but not so much anymore, that we hang out in a mutual circle of friends. I believe she got engaged one month or so before me. I only found out when I told friends that I was engaged. When she found out I was engaged we corresponded via e-mail a few times. I wasn't sure why she cared. Anyway fast forward about 8 months and we were both out a function together. She asked if we set a date and when I told her my date which I think is 2 months before hers she said, 'oh, you slipped right in there.' Apparently the fact that I am getting married before her bothers her. Like I seriously picked a date based on when she was getting married. What an @$$!

Before we decided to have a wedding on LI we were gonna do a wedding in Vegas. We wanted to go to the Venetian hotel and say our vows as we were being taken on a ride on a gondola. Then a small reception after for those who could make it. Well my FMIL was relaying a message to me through my FH aunt that if I was gonna do that I might as well get dressed in a tank top and shorts and go threw the drive thru and get married. Her exact words my idea was CHEEZY. Then on top of that my FSIL told my FH that he was being selfish for wanting to have the wedding there. I have to say if those aren't rude enough everytime we come up with places we have been to my FMIL and FSIL will come up with every OTHER place imagineable. This is my wedding, I am paying for it if you don't like it don't come, too bad!!

Re: Whats the rudest comment /question you've gotten since becoming engaged?
Hmmm I've received quite a few obnoxious comments/questions....
-People (girls, mainly) just DYING to know how much we're paying -- please, like it's your business?
-Jewelers making critical remarks about the way my engagement ring is set, thus making it difficult to find a wedding band, thus, making their jobs harder. I had one actually say 'well YOU picked it out to be like this' and I retorted, 'actually know, my FH did, and I love it and wouldn't have it any other way.' Jerks.
-A pregnant BM telling me over and over how she didn't mean to 'steal my thunder' by being due 4 weeks before my wedding. Sweetheart, I am going to have an insane fun party and will be thin and hot. You'll be lactating. You did not steal my thunder. Do not make jokes how my bridal shower will be a joint with your baby shower.
-Unmarried girls who are dying to get engaged taking one look at my ring and proceeding to tell me what THEY would want as an e-ring.
-Rude guest at a Christmas party on her 3rd marriage telling me how much of a waste of money it is to have a big wedding.

Re: Whats the rudest comment /question you've gotten since becoming engaged?
I was at FH's brothers birthday party last night with his whole family. I was holding one of his cousin's new baby- the only baby in the family now. The ENTIRE family proceeded to tell me how I'm next and asking how quickly after the wedding are we going to get pregnant.
Than FFIL told the baby's mom something to the effect of 'this is the little princess now, until Cate has her baby, then HER baby will be the princess'. That part was just plain insulting even if it wasnt directed toward me! I felt so bad for the mom but she just ignored him.

where to start where to start.. .i get well you want to lose about a hundred pounds before your wedding a lot. I also get people asking if my ring is fake. how my daughter is going to feel that she was born before im married. What is the point of waiting 2 years to get married etc. my mom is the worst. she is not into my wedding AT all

This comment was made to my mother about the fact that some of my cousins were not invited with their boyfriends.
'They cant bring their boyfriends? Theyre gonna be so bored'

im inviting around 275 to my wedding and i hate when people tell me well you have to cut your list.. and then proceed to say... so i cant wait for the big day...
if im cutting my list y would i invite you???
Yes! We are having a big wedding as well- probably around 300 people. And I don't know why people are insistent that we cut it down or 'don't spend too much'. Because honestly, we are going to spend what we can and have the day that we love. I think sometimes people just feel the need to say SOMETHING so those things are what they feel is appropriate?

Re: Whats the rudest comment /question you've gotten since becoming engaged?
Ready- I can make a list and I'm sure this is just off the top of my head and there are plenty more!
'Your ring is so cute'
'Ughh- your stll telling the story about how he proposed, your so dramatic'
'I looked of fortunoff.com to see if you registered yet because I'm curious to see the things you picked out'
-The BMs complaining about sizes because apparently my BM dresses run small.
-FMIL with her comments when I was registering (I was nice enough to take her with my mom and I bc she doesn't have a daughter)
-'the dress you picked for my daughter is flamboyant and she will take it off' - the (maybe) FG's mother
-'why are you inviting 275 people to your wedding...you don't really know 275 people, I think that's just stupid' -my boss.
One thing I can say for sure is that- this whole wedding planning really shows you what some people are about.

When talking about The Swan Club I was told 'oh, I've been there and it's lovely. I'm surprised you picked it because I would think it was too fancy for you'
Ummm, what?
Basically, my aunt thought that because I'm a tomboy I wouldn't want to get married in a pretty place. She also had a similar comment about the type of dress I want to wear, saying she never thought I would pick a dress that is 'so sophisticated'
What am I, some ugly effing chud?

'Dont have your wedding reception far away, I dont want to have to drive far'
OMG YES! One close friend...well not so much since I got engaged, said- your reception is on Long Island? How am I going to get there? That's so far. Why didn't you do the City?
Erm...yea. Because my wedding revolves around you being there.

Definitely the piece where people invite themselves. You be surprised some of the ways in which I have been asked!
