Whats the rudest thing you have noticed at someone elses wedding?

Original post by Mrs Z To Be

I mean rude in the way of the bride and groom ..(if anything)

Last november, friends of ours had a wedding out in Rhode Island....It was extremely expensive to stay, plus we had to travel three hours,a gift, and take a day off work. Which was fun, so it was not that big a deal. BUT- this ticked me off, not once did the bride and groom acknowledge our friends....even at the wedding!!! They never greeted the tables...the wedding was about 150 people. I found that to be EXTREMELY rude.

I think the rudest thing was when the bride/groom didnt send me an invitation

well, i MAKE it my business to go up to the bride and groom at a wedding - i think when there are that many people its just easier to make your way over to congratulate the couple - just because the bride and groom may go over to each table that doesnt mean YOU will be at your seat when they make their way over and that isnt the couples fault - so if you really want to talk to them, approach them....at least that is how i feel and that is what i do....i approach the couple i dont wait for them to find me - thats unfair to think that the bride and groom have to find over 100 people without forgetting who they talked to already

I also go up to the couple but sometimes its hard. There are times I sit there stalking the bride and groom to see where theyre going, i am not going to go up to them while theyre at another table, then the other times its hard bc theyre either with somebody or doing something important. But i also go up to say goodbye if i didnt get a chance to all night.

I'll be honest with you, the few times i get annoyed at my wedding were when people came up to me when they shouldn't have. Like pulling me off the dance floor or while i was talking to somebody they would pull me away. Then the worst is that after i went around to each table, a line formed by my table for some reason for ppl to talk to us, it was a very long line and i was just on the dance floor but someone pulled me away and thats how it started. I was running around like such a maniac i barely had a free moment. You get pulled in every direction by the guests, vendors, maitre'd, they go over everything with you first so gets hectic

if you see the bride and groom attempted to say hello to most of the guests but then at one point they had to stop for whatever reason then thats different. But if they make no attempt and dont go up to anyone thats when i think the OP is saying its rude

ohhhh nooo you got stuck with the old school tortorous line -- YIKES

rudest thing at someone else's wedding... hmmm... i've only been to one other but i would say:

the rudest thing was actually the bartender. he ID'd me for my drink, which was fine, I look young, but then told me my NY license was fake -- i thought he was joking but he was serious... and got really obnoxious and was like 'I can't believe you'd try to pass this off as a real license.' I got really mad because I was 24 and the other bar let me order drinks without a problem. I told him if he was going to ID people he should be familiar with out of state IDs (this wedding was OOT) and when he said he'd serve me anyway and asked what I wanted I said 'I want to go to a different bartender....' and I walked away without ordering from him

I wanted to call the place and complain after the fact but it was 2 weeks before my own wedding and I was too busy. I never told the bride and groom but DH (a groomsman) and his friends were furious for me

FWIW we were the same age as the bride and groom and had known them for 6 years. Still makes me mad

As far as rudest thing the b&g did, i think it was seating the bridal party separate from their dates/fiances/spouses.....

now that I think about it I'd say it was also rude that the outer envelope only had DH's name and the inner envelope had both of our first names. We live together and had known them 6 years (longer than they had been together) and they knew me very well

There really wasn't anything bad about any weddings I've been to on Long Island. I can give you a list of weird things about weddings outside of Long Island.

I went to a wedding that was a fiasco. The parents clearly didnt want the bride and groom to get married...but she was 7 months pregnant. Mid-wedding, the groom took the microphone from the Dj an requested that anyone who hadnt given an envelope yet, please bring it to him dorectly b/c the bride's dad was stealing the envelopes. Somehow, the groom ended up handcuffed and escorted out of his wedding by the police. Needless to say, I'm not sure that marriage even lasted a year.

that is bad.
At my best friends wedding 2 guys from her husbands job brought these 2 how should I say slutty girls. One wore a super super short WHITE lace dress and the other one was dancing like a stripper with her dress pulled up with her garder belt showing

I've never experienced rudeness- but i heard from a friend that they went to a wedding and they stopped serving alcohol for 2 hours during dinner and dessert (with no option of a cash bar) i think thats pretty rude.....
oh this one i did witness- i was at a wedding where it was the brides grandparents aniversary and NOTHING was said- which is think is really rude- just a shout out from the dj would have been nice.

Wearing a white dress or something very casual...and recently at a wedding, when the bride was saying her goodbyes, the staff started vacuuming the floor...sorry but I thought that was very rude to her and her groom, regardless of the fact that it was technically 'over.'

That is crazy..one of the reception halls I went to see had told me they once had a groom arrested during their reception!! I wonder if it was the same one!!

Traci--thats like a Jerry Springer episode!!!!

As far as B&G--my idiot cousin never sent TY's.

And as far as AT a wedding, I saw 2 members of the BP (who are together) get in a screaming match and throw drinks at each other.

i did the same thing at a wedding i was just at last month. The bride & groom had come to the table while I was up getting a drink. So later on that night I made sure I found 'em. No reason to expect them to go on a search for ME
