Whats the rudest thing you have noticed at someone elses wedding?
Original post by Mrs Z To Be
I mean rude in the way of the bride and groom ..(if anything)
Last november, friends of ours had a wedding out in Rhode Island....It was extremely expensive to stay, plus we had to travel three hours,a gift, and take a day off work. Which was fun, so it was not that big a deal. BUT- this ticked me off, not once did the bride and groom acknowledge our friends....even at the wedding!!! They never greeted the tables...the wedding was about 150 people. I found that to be EXTREMELY rude.

Rudest thing was being listed as 'and guest' on the seating card. FH and I were engaged and had been dating for 9 yrs at this point, AND I had made a point of putting my name on the rsvp card so they knew how to spell it.

I went to a wedding that was a fiasco. The parents clearly didnt want the bride and groom to get married...but she was 7 months pregnant. Mid-wedding, the groom took the microphone from the Dj an requested that anyone who hadnt given an envelope yet, please bring it to him dorectly b/c the bride's dad was stealing the envelopes. Somehow, the groom ended up handcuffed and escorted out of his wedding by the police. Needless to say, I'm not sure that marriage even lasted a year.
OMG!!!! That's insane... Some people don't have an ounce of class!!!

I really dont like when the B&G dont come around to the tables but I know this is a hot topic on here so to each his/her own.
And not getting a TY card is pretty messed up but that has never happened to me, although I did get one after a year!

well, i MAKE it my business to go up to the bride and groom at a wedding - i think when there are that many people its just easier to make your way over to congratulate the couple - just because the bride and groom may go over to each table that doesnt mean YOU will be at your seat when they make their way over and that isnt the couples fault - so if you really want to talk to them, approach them....at least that is how i feel and that is what i do....i approach the couple i dont wait for them to find me - thats unfair to think that the bride and groom have to find over 100 people without forgetting who they talked to already
ITA ! The bride and groom are being pulled in 101827 directions AND want to enjoy their reception as well . I attempted to make rounds at cocktail hour, and I did make it over to a few tables , but my guests/family had NO problem approaching me .
* Rude - my friend got married and her MIL wore WHITE. so rude!

For a shower OR a wedding to put that or no boxed gifts is classless . I wouldn't go

Went to a wedding in DC, the hotel that the bride and groom 'recommended' was $300+ a night (first of all, I thought that only blocking off rooms at such an expensive hotel was a little rude). A lot of people (probably 10 rooms) of family members stayed at the hotel right next door for like $125. And the bride and groom knew we were staying there. The bride and groom supplied 'hotel goody bags' for the guests that stayed at the $300+ a night hotel but not to the rest of us who stayed at the cheaper hotel. I don't know why this bothered me so much, but it REALLy did!! I just thought it was rude because there was a four hour gap between the church and the reception...a bag of chips or a bottle of water would have been nice!!

The rudest thing that happened to me was while at a friends wedding, a family memeber (uncle) of the bride starting hitting on me VERY OBVIOUSLY infront of his wife and family. they all decided to confront me later on that evening in the MIDDLE of the dance floor, so i have a 50 year old women, screaming to me DID MY DIRTBAG husband try to grab you, what did he say to you, did he tell you we have 3 kids, he does this ALL the time, he has gone too far this time, i hate him etc etc, the husband comes up begging the wife to stop making a scene as he is so drunk he cant walk and then they start arguing, soon a circle formed around all of us and i wanted to DIE of embarassment. I left shortly after that. P.S. The bride said it was caught on video, nice.

I was at a wedding in August there were soda bottles on the tables and if soda ran out you would have to go into the kitchen of the hall to get more soda. Also for like an hour there was a cash bar then for the three other hours there was NO type of bar at all, it was horrible. Also the food was cold

The invite having FH's name and then & guest really gets to me. I've been with FH for over 9 years, I don't think I'm just a 'guest'! Make it a point to find out my name if you don't know it!

That would SERIOUSLY IRK ME!!! I made sure FH got all his friends wives/girlfriends names for the invites...

i just feel like it's inconsiderate when a couple only registers at a very pricey store. It makes you feel like crap if you can't afford anything without going in on stuff with another person. i definitely considered this before registering.
Also... i dunno if it counts as 'rude' but it was kind of annoying - I was in a wedding this past summer and the Bride & Groom decided not to have a 'normal' reception, which you'd think is fine, but then I actually saw it. No bar, no DJ, no nothing! I mean, seriously- NOTHING!! When she had first told me that it was just going to be a buffet, i asked if she was going to get some kind of entertainment. And when she said no, i just let it go. Obviously it's HER wedding, so do what you want. But when we got there, it was really bad for the guests. People were soooo bored. All we did was sit and wait to eat. And then we ate and waited for dessert. Some kind of entertainment would have been nice. But what are ya gonna do? I just felt like that was inconsiderate to the guests who were expecting a bit more.

Re: Whats the rudest thing you have noticed at someone elses wedding?
A couple of rude things Ive seen at weddings is that, people are sitting at their tables writing out the wedding card and everyone is watching and another thing I find rude is when the parents, or whomever whip out their checkbooks and start writing out checks in front of everyone. Ive seen this many times and I think its just rude.

I also always go up to the bride and groom for the same reason that I may not be at my seat when they come around to say hello. The best thing to do as a bride and groom is to go to the cocktail room to say hello to guest this way you eliminate that time, b ut sadly we didn't have the chance to do that.
The most rude thing is someone wearing white, ivory, cream, etc. I picked out an ivory gown for my mom and she refused to wear it, but I didn't care it's my mom and she can wear whatever looks good on her. On another note, even though it may be rude/not classy to wear white at someone's wedding, if someone wore white at my wedding and I had notice it I would have probable thought 'what the hell' for one sec and then completely forgotten about it because it was my wedding and you want to enjoy it and nothing can really mess up your day unless you are the bride which fell in the pool because of the clumsy best man.
One very rude thing that happened at my wedding was that a friend of mine came up to my seat to tell my mom how upset she was that I didn't make her part of the bridal party while DH and his mom were dancing the mother/son dance. I even have a pic of that...so crazy!

Re: Whats the rudest thing you have noticed at someone elses wedding?
At my cousins wedding in Chicago, there were like 3 guests wearing all white. So rude! 2 were younger, like in their 20's, and the other was an older person, like 50's maybe. I was so angry!
ETA: Also at the same wedding, I don't think it was intentional at all, but there wasn't a choice of entrees. Fine. But all three courses served had nuts in them and DH was allergic to nuts. I just found it kind of weird considering what a common allergy nuts is. We told the kitchen and they just gave him a cold piece of cooked plain chicken.
