What's your biggest saving

Re: What's your biggest saving

We've lucked out over all. I saved a bundle on my dress by using RK Bridals 'no frills' service. (I bought my shoes on ebay.) We got a wonderful deal on our reception hall (a sat afternoon in june) by booking 14 mo in advance and going 'off plan' (booking as a party rather than a wedding package). Our price with an ultra premium bar was less than the food alone on a wedding plan! We also hope to save $$ on the flowers by sticking to smaller arrangements.

We did blow A LOT of $$$ on photography+invitations, though. I don't regret it at all.... We got a great photographer (angelica studios) and gorgeous handmade invites (marsville press)... Those are the plurges....

Our biggest savings: we only have 2 bridesmaids and one best man, and our wedding is under 75 people! (Pretty much the only time a small family is considered a plus....)

I think the real way to stay on budget is to get what you REALLY want (for me, the great pix and invites), and avoid excesses in areas that aren't a priority for you.... (no one will see my shoes under my huge and poofy ballgown!)

Re: What's your biggest saving

1. My dress was originally $875 found it cheaper some place else and my dress shop beat the other store so I'd purchase from them to $545!!!.
(I also got the BM dress down like 20 bucks and still got 10% off that price!)
2. Most expensive deluxe video package was $2000... and thats without the extras (ie...HM and baby photo montage and rehersal footage) for $1900!!!
3. Flowers from $3500 to $2500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can't tell... I am a BARGAIN SHOPPER!

Re: What's your biggest saving

well the deal of the wedding so far are my invites ... we got them at AC Moore (we printed them out ourselves) but they were $25.99 AND i had a 50% off coupon so we got them for $13 !!!! I was very excited on that since i feel people don't really save the invites once the day has passed.. besides my FH is a good haggler got the hall to throw in chair covers too ... but so far the $13 invites are the best deal

also got my dress for $399 (well my mom paid) but it was during the davids bridal sale .. so i was excited it didn't cost an arm and a leg

Re: What's your biggest saving

lets see..
my hall is raising their prices dramatically and i got in at the literally the very last of the low price AND we negotiated $15pp off that price (my FMIL is a GREAT price negotiater ) ..
i saved $500 on my dress for purchasing at a trunk show..
saved $300 in tax by paying for photo/video in cash..
also saved $800 by ordering no albums with my photo package - my aunt and uncle own a phot shop upstate and will do pro albums for me at cost
but most helpful (although not fully negotiated yet) is that my flowers will most likely be free or extremely cheap..but thats cause i work for a large flower company .. hence FlowerBride

still working on BM dresses but i will not settle until i find my girls the LOWEST possible price!!

Re: What's your biggest saving

1) My Ering- My aunt is a jewler and gave FH a great price on it!! He saved about 3K.....she made basically no commission, but it's all good!!
2) Flowers - BIG TIME- most of our quotes were around mid 4000s and we're going with someone around 2700 (Dad's friend- hooked us up with a great price on centerpieces)
3) My dress- the lady took off about $250 (the dress was only $600
4) BMs are going to get 15-20% off their dresses because I bought mine there...and there are 10 of them so it's two separate discounts
5) Reception Hall- Gave us the Winter rate for what they consider to be a 'summer Date'. Also, they wrote into the contract a bigger discount if we exceed our min by 25 people
6) Limos- Dad knows the owner of the company
Thanks Pop!!
7) photographer--- He threw in a TON of additional stuff for us....very accomodating.
